Kind of throwing the baby out with the bathwater here...IKEA might still be great for you as long as you avoid all the subcontracted installation services? Unless you don't know or care to turn a screwdriver, I guess! :)

This is a good point. I think a real solution to the 'tax problem' requires both a) having the gubment send us an itemized invoice instead of making us file and b) having a transparent, simple to grok code so that we can validate the bill.

edit: this is obviously a huge huge problem to tackle, but dont we all feel a lot of energy around this during tax season? :)

I love this idea in theory, and basically revisit it every year during tax season.

The tax/tax prep lobby is strong, and perhaps needfully so, as a whole bunch of people have their livelihoods wrapped up in it, but I often wonder if that whole industry is not actually a net negative for the economy.

edit: How do we help this idea take flight?

I thought he was lamenting the fact that Uber has to compete with an unprofitable organization buying their market share. In an article about how his very own company is losing 1B a year to exist in that market. If that isn't irony, I don't know what is.

Maybe things would be better if people didn't have such a myopic and defeatist attitude?

Yep - this name jumped out at me because I heard it on the radio this morning (synchronicity!). He is now the Finance Minister of Greece, so he's got some bigger fish to fry than how much that virtual hat should cost.

PS Hook em.

Well, this certainly blows my yo-based Pomodoro Timer out of the water.
