Having Kids 7 years ago

Kids are 1 and 3. The 1 yo doesn't sleep through the night. No family nearby. I really needed this thread.

I was in a very similar situation 6 months ago. If you have a typical agreement in place (4 yr vesting schedule w/ an initial 1 yr cliff), about 10% is not only reasonable, it's what you're legally entitled to. If you're legally entitled to 10% and you believe the company is going to increase in value and eventually exit without you, it would be foolish to sell then your stake.

Typos:

"Never lose client! Easily add your client contact info, rates, links and group them by status." Never lose a client!

"Don't miss an update. Create free account!" Create a free account!

"We want to build best tool possible. Create free account!" We want to build the best tool possible. Create a free account!

Also, really love the design.

You can't deliver on your mission of democratizing education or operate as a VC backed business (which enables these attempts in the first place), if you're not making moves toward profitability. These companies are pioneering a space and searching for a viable business model in the process. They're surviving.

You read it right - another job board.

In previous threads, I've noticed many people suggesting job boards are not the place to look for contract work. Many contract relationships arise out of personal and professional relationships. I generally agree. I have such an arrangement with my previous employer.

That said, I get lots of calls from recruiters, as we all do, and many of them are attempting to act as a middleman for a 6 or 12-month contract. They want to put me on their payroll to service a particular job, and collect the spread.

The idea of a contract economy is really appealing to me, so I wanted to see how the HN community would respond to this prototype.

I was looking for a project to dig a bit deeper with React and this seemed like a decent thing to toil away on. I've been working on it in my spare time for the past couple days. Functionality is really basic and there are surely bugs. Any feedback is welcome!

P.S. If you don't feel the need to comment here, it'd be awesome if you'd select yay or nay at the bottom of the homepage.
