Absolutely. It's purely vanity in a way it's a power play. They can afford to negotiate, so they will.

If they don't have to negotiate, for example when the market is bad or when there are competing offers from a non-peer - they choose not to.

I have worked on the same recommendation systems. It's also the most often oncall issue. The problem is mostly due to lag in event processing (especially orders).

There are major disadvantages to using something like Notion for personal work - including non discoverability of work or thoughts. Most people are better of with pen and paper.
