Hey HN - Inspired by Snapchat and the desire to send real photos when traveling, we built Cardpop. It's an iOS app to design and mail fun postcards in less than a minute.
Looking forward to your feedback.

Our goal was to make framed prints a one-stop shop so we found a framing partner that does every aspect of the final product -- printing, framing, assembling, and shipping. Sorry to hear you had poor results with printing in the past, but ours is done in professional, best-in-class Epson and Canon color-calibrated printers with 10 and 12-color pigmented inks.
The pricing is based on how you customize the frame, as well as the print size, but we could say "Starting at $50" somewhere on the site/in the app.
Hi - We just launched this today in the App Store. We’ll print, frame, giftwrap, and ship any photo on your phone. Mobile photography is more capable than ever, but yet many photos never leave the phone. We’re making it easy to get those photos off your device into a beautiful, ready-to-hang print.
Would love any feedback on the concept, user experience, and potential audiences/use cases.
Yes, the company is now owned by Ticketmaster, but we still received some of our initial investment from YC.
Thanks! This product is a part of Eventjoy.com, so it fits in with our overall strategy. We'll be rolling out other premium features for it soon. If you have any feedback, would love to hear.
Founder of Eventjoy here. We unbundled some of the core experience at Eventjoy to roll this out as a separate product. Would love any feedback.
Huge fan of Product Hunt. Show HN is great, but PH just makes it too easy to quickly discover, comment on, and share new products. Not to mention, the community there seems more "real" thanks to names/profile pics.
Thanks. Considering that event management covers a lot of areas, there is definitely some overlap into other spaces. For instance, we do offer lightweight email campaigns and will soon offer custom email invites.
In our opinion, event discovery via a directory isn't that effective. Real discovery comes from social proof and recommendations from friends/connections.
We're working on some things to assist with this, but we're also looking into other channels of mobile commerce (beyond ticketing) that we can monetize.
Thanks Andrew. We found a lot of organizers to be pretty price sensitive around ticketing fees.
Thanks for posting. I'm one of the Eventjoy founders. Happy to answer any questions.
The response to the name has been overwhelmingly positive. We still have a ton of people come up to us just to say how much they love the name. Thanks!
I'd say both. We're seeing smaller events than we used to get signup. On the flip side, we're seeing large events signup as well. What is interesting is the variety of events we're now seeing (5Ks included). We're talking to users in these new verticals to see how we can better serve their needs.
Zendesk. They even have a startup program where you can get some months for free. You might have to search around to find it.
Good find! I closed the tag.
Thanks for catching that, turns out I cut off two words :x
Images are working fine on our end. What browser?
With the registration component, we now have a lot more data and value that we can provide to the organizer. Over time we'll give them the right tools to leverage that.
We had three team members working on this and only two good chairs, so we rotated. What you can't see is that we have two couches around the work area.
We've generally been very resistant to outsourcing anything and this is the first time we've ever done it. It didn't come out flawlessly (we had to tweak a lot), but it paid off so we could launch quicker.
1) Existing/new organizers loved the idea of going mobile for their events, but they didn't want to manage another platform. 2) Users were asking us if we could handle ticketing/reg. as well. 3) We now have an opportunity to make mobile engagement seamless for attendees the moment they check into an event.
There are other things as well, but these were the top three.
Thank you!
Agreed. Going through YC helped us remove all distractions. Beyond that, we just consumed a lot of caffeine.
Only the blog title should be in caps. Are you seeing the whole thing in caps?
Sure thing. I'm one of the co-founders at Eventjoy. We created a mobile app for one of their internal meetings last month.
We work a lot of with independent/non-professional organizers since they need tools that are a) affordable and b) are simple/do not have a large learning curve. Their events include everything from conferences to food and wine tastings.
Event app wise, we have all the features you'd expect (event info, social integration, attendee profiles, etc). We also have some unique capabilities given that we handle ticketing/registration as well. Not to mention, it's completely free compared to $1000s.
Agreed about it being positive. Event organizing can be tough and we want to make it easy. I think "joy" helps emphasize this.
Hey Brian - I'm Todd, one of the founders at Eventjoy. This is awesome feedback and I'd like to chat with you more. We can probably even help you out with that coffee situation. Could you send me an email at todd[AT]eventjoy[DOT]com
Thanks!
The conference badge team is great and I can appreciate the transparency in this post. Keep up the good work and best of luck finding a US partner.
As someone who just launched a startup a week ago, the best advice I can give is to just go for it! You're always going to have bugs, want to squeeze more functionality in, make it look cleaner, etc. The reality is that you'll probably learn more about your product, users, and infrastructure capabilities in your first week post-launch then you will have in the past ten months. It can be a terrifying experience unleashing your product to the world, but it's also an exciting one. Finish up the last few tasks, launch it, and celebrate your accomplishment....then get back to work :)
