I usually do upstream image mirroring as part of CI. Registries are built into GitLab, AWS (ECR), GitHub, etc

There's a registry image for OCI containers that is pretty painless to set up and low maintenance, can use s3 as a storage backend.

I use jsign and AWS KMS. It's a lot less expensive than a full on HSM or "cloud HSM" service.

There's a lot to it, and expect a ton of a back and forth emails with a CA to get an EV Cert.

JuiceFS requires a backing object store like s3/minio that it “flushes” to persist data. If you want to run it distributed it uses a few other services.

I’d use object storage if I wanted simple in the replicated, jbod disk management and access control senses of simple. If I had to use file storage I’d use boring old sftp or smb on top of zfs on a NAS

The one place I've set up button triggered runbooks was gitlab ci under scheduled jobs. Made things a lot easier for less technical people.

PLA is biodegradable. For the things I print, I usually smooth them with PVA as it's biodegradable. As far as pigments go, I have no clue what's in most commercial stuff I think they're the main caveat for truly biodegradable 3d printing.

I've caught a big cloud provider not reporting a degraded service, I assume they knew but politics and $ come in and it's easier to just gaslight everyone. I get it, but my frustration is worth loosing a trailing 9.

I think there should be some 3rd party continuously testing APIs. Degraded states are downtime!

Working on a sort of universal dock for usb mass storage devices. It's a little linux box wallwart, udev rule, fstab, systemd unit config generator that runs scripts when the device is plugged in.

Twilio numbers don't receive Short Code messages (the weird six digit phone numbers) which most 2FA messages come from.

I'd advise against a Twilio number, Support told me they can't handle Short Codes so its very unreliable for SMS 2FA.

I was using an Android device, KDE Connect app and a Linux box to view 2FA messages. Works, but it's a string of hacks.

It's concise, simple, portable so I can use whatever text editor or notes app. I've gotten burnt out on switching.

Lifehack for rice friers: Use leftover rice or make sure the rice is dryer than fresh out the pot.

I boil it, then throw it in the oven or microwave it, stir a few times so there's less moisture. If the rice grain is too moist the outside of it wants to stick to the pan instead of itself.
