My concern with child proofing other than I don't think it works is that it starts impacting me directly. No more sign up with email, now I i have to produce credit card or government ID or similar. Which I don't trust sites to protect anyway. Google has been bugging me for two years asking for my birthday on a 20 year old account to comply with laws like this. It can vote, its over 13.

Still hard to trust. Many companies save info for training/qa purposes and hide details in obscure language. Voice assistants for example. Didn't Roomba get in trouble recently regarding photos uploaded and then shared with contractors for qa that ultimately shared the embarrasing photos more publicly.

Its way older than 5 years old. Wonderfalls (2004) had a character refered to the mouth breather in derogatory way. I know my brother used that in similar way growing up but im sure there are better/older references but those are mine.

You are not alone. I think it goes all the way back to high school or middle school for me. Its when you realize the gold star stickers were behavior manipulation or something and then see it everywhere.

I think you miss their point which is that has led to a large number of security bugs. Because it is then path to exploits and sloppiness which then cannot be corrected because of backward compatibility or such.

This stepped up like a champ in preventing unwanted networking behavior from Microsoft and others. The Notify Task has some times been weird but 1.0 seems to work well for me. The fact that i can point at my local DNScrypt instance is nice. I need to explore SPN more and see if it would work better than VPN for me or not.

I prepay w/ tmobile for 30/mo. No wifi directly but can use google voice for that.

You add the intermediate key to config for trust. You do not need authorized_keys files for each user. Good for team and central management and faster key rotation but then needs trusted intermediate authority which is secure. No password or key rotation on machine itself which is good if you have a lot of machines.

I can only speak from personal experience but that is what happened to my family. My brother is a sociopath who caused our family a lifetime of difficulty. The biological mother was drug addict and abusive before adoption and he became an addict. My sister also adopted from different family was less of a problem but also had some issues. My dad was very kind and not abusive and spent way too much trying to help. Who knows maybe it was environment and early abuse or something but nature stacked the deck I think in my family. The other issue with adoption is limited access to family medical history.

I had a Panasonic from about 2008. It finally started having image burn-in problems and some yellowing from too much CNN on in the background. It had great speakers and rich colors until near the end. The Samsung I replaced it with is terrible in so many ways. Had to buy a sound bar to fix the audio. the color is not as rich. It has tearing issues with faster movements like when watching sports. I would get rid of it but not sure other options are better and hate contributing to e-waste.

My company "allows" USB sticks but they will encrypt any files on it with key tied to that machine. Had a tech updated a config file when after this was silently rolled out and poof line down for the day as it couldnt be used to reimage systems on the embedded pcs.

My company has some McAfee and Palo Alto stuff and the cyvera cloud backup software which scans every file every 4 hours but then triggers the other software because of access attempts. Some of these are suites so its 3-4 diferent things (firewall, dlp, antivirus, ...)

US taxes world income with some credit for foreign taxes paid. So if you don't have to pay taxes twice its easier and cheaper. Speaking from experience especially around investments.

Its partly about where burden is placed. Making it easy for developers sometimes makes it hard on users and admins. And some times it becomes security issue because of varied approaches. Not sure there is right answer especially in open source where its hard to get devs.

This is same for me. It was great value in 2012 and product was good enough to keep using. I subscribed to Resharper before that but now use the other products like datalink. The fact that a personal license can be used at work also helped my adoption of the tools.

Mysql also has this now. I've wanted to rewrite out apps to use it but haven't gotten around to it. Postgres has it as an addon but feels like it wouldn't work for us until its first class supported.

Stride probably has a better chance at being Unity compatible being .NET and similar but it needs more polish to take on Unity. I only recently heard of it as it was used in Distant Worlds 2 but that game had an unfortunate launch and lots of bugs/compatibility issues.

I hate this feature with all my heart. Ive never needed it or wanted it and can easily roll down my own windows. 4-5 times ive come back to my car and windows rolled down after shopping or working as i must have accidentally activated it.

I wish they would wipe accounts. Instead it will be kept probably forever and your backup email will be spammed forevermore. I started creating an account more than a decade ago. Maybe entered my birthdate and university and stopped. I get so many facebook emails and cannot stop it and I never used it. I don't have the password to recover and im sure it would be flagged if i tried.

Many go apps are fairly large as well. Most of mine start at 10 MB and quickly reach 70-80 MB for fairly simple functionality for similar reasons (hosting runtime).
