Great application of GPT-3, fun and light-hearted!

Fails to address that users on centralized Web3 platforms have ability to exit platform, which isn’t an option in Web2.

I can transfer out an NFT from OpenSea ecosystem. I can transfer BTC out of Coinbase.

Why Web3? 5 years ago

Wonder what Fred thinks about having a single-shared database (Ethereum) vs. having multiple shared databases (SOLUNAVAX).

A lot of HN hate on Web3... is the alternative to lay down and let big tech win?

Axie is built on Ethereum, meaning in-game assets (NFTs) are technically transferrable off-platform.

Vitalik (creator of Ethereum) attributed one of his reasons for creating Ethereum to Blizzard taking away one of his in-game items in World of Warcraft in 2010:

"I was born in 1994 in Russia and moved to Canada in 2000, where I went to school. I happily played World of Warcraft during 2007-2010, but one day Blizzard removed the damage component from my beloved warlock's Siphon Life spell. I cried myself to sleep, and on that day I realized what horrors centralized services can bring. I soon decided to quit."

We're still in the first inning of Web3.

Was at Coinbase in 2017 - am now waiting for more dev tooling to come out before jumping back in to the industry. The existing infrastructure is abysmal - equivalent of programming at the network layer.

Google and Amazon were built 2 decades after the invention of the internet. No need to FOMO in when the first programmable blockchain (Ethereum) is only 6 years old.

Not making the argument that VC is bad across the board - companies that require a large amount of startup capital (fintech, space, deep tech) wouldn't exist without VC funding.

We've actually grown entirely through word of mouth. 0 ad spend after 2 years. We also happen to be a late entrant to the market. Companies like Swagbucks have been around since 2008.
