I'm not an expert, but I thought fan art that people try to monetize in some form is explicitly illegal unless it's protected by parody, and any non commercial "violations" of copyright is totally legal. It's not possible to have a "web scale" that end-to-end encrypts metadata, because part of the metadata is understanding the recipient.

If the network or server has no idea where to deliver an encrypted message, then the only way to guarantee delivery is to send all the messages to all the users to unpack to see which ones are relevant to them, which fails "web scale"

Because of price discrimination. By offering a cheaper product, a producer can capture more producer surplus by capturing users who would never have bought at the previous price point. This also allows the company to sell their higher end product at a greater price because the efficient price moves upwards when the lower demand folks get factored out.

X and Reddit are definitely valuable, but they're definitely not unique. I think Meta and Google have inherent advantages because their data is not accessible to LLM competitors and they have the actual capabilities to build great LLMs.

Unless X decides to tap AI talent in China, they're going to have a REALLY hard time spinning up a competitive LLM team compared to OpenAI, Google, and Meta, which I think are the top three LLM companies in that order.

Harvard is primarily a brand for wealthy people, and they need the non-wealthy cohort to justify the legitimacy of their degree. Harvard does have world class institutions, but that’s primarily to reinforce the brand they’re selling to wealthy alumni and donors who wants their kids to enter the exclusive club.

The hubris of Lucy Calkins is awful and destructive to society. There needs to be, at the very least, civil proceedings against her for the damage she has done to youths around the country, which she persisted even in light of contrary evidence of the process she has profited from for decades.
