Besides the US no other country is so picky about "sexist" comments. This is a completely normal attitude in other cultures and not sexist at all (for them, might still be sexist for you).

Thank you. Everyone who seeks funding should probably understand this.

We are fine in terms of money, I just had this (misguided) idea that getting funding now helps me to be even less involved in the project but since my decisions made this a success I think we really look to sell the whole thing.

Before we do this we will keep growing it for a little longer and try to make everyone replaceable. It doesnt matter much for us anyway. We just want to get done with the making money part of our life and will get there regardless if we sell or not until the end of the year.

That's where our unfair advantage comes in. We know already some companies who work on replicating what we do and they have good chances to make this happen, but...

- Our product is hard to replicate and this will take them time and give them a lot of headache. We know some companies gave up.

- We build our own competitor in the same niche right now (under different leadership but I still hold control) so we cover the first and second spot in it. They are talented and can copy us first. So if people want choice they will get that.

- We dominate the conversation and have some things in place that ensure it will stay like this.

Regardless of all this, I'm fine if we would loose the top spot because the market is growing so fast that even a smaller piece of the pie is a decent sized one and we keep the whole operation extremely lean and focused so we we will stay profitable no matter what.

For us its life work balance. I just started a small game studio because that's what I really like to do. It's already a retirement project, sort of, because I only have to make the strategic decisions for our business and someone else is handling all day to day business and scaling the company. I just dont want to abandon the game studio project now just to make some investors happy. We have positive cash flow anyway.

When it comes to positive psychology married people with kids feel less satisfied with life, but other factors that also contribute to happiness such as meaning and purpose are increased in this group of people and make up for that.

It's not the time that's missing for most people it's the serious motivation. Having more people who depend on you is a huge external motivation factor.

I love lesswrong but don't think his comment is hindsight biased. I do not have kids and me and my wife do not want kids anytime soon just because we enjoy playtime and having less responsibility and more freedom.

Everyone should find their own way. I agree. But being able to enjoy quiet time is something you can learn.

A common problem for people who can not be without stimuli is that they can not disassociate from their thoughts.

That means just looking at your thoughts or whatever other inner processes are going on and letting them pass by without getting attached to them.

This is what you train when you meditate and it does not come over night, but it gives you the ability to gain more control over yourself and quiet time or time you use to meditate becomes rather entertaining...

There are a lot of scientifically proven benefits for doing meditation as well.

Doing this is a lifestyle choice. There is nothing wrong if you enjoy drinking sugary soda drinks every day if that's you choice that's what it is.

I do meditation since several years and also studied the science related to it. This is meditation in a nutshell for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sspY43lxqhE

I just got a new ultrabook with W8 for my wife. First thing I had to do was download some software that W8 boots into desktop mode. Then I got another application that brings the start menu back. Now it is OK and ready to use for her. MS should have released a work version and a home version that comes either with or without Metro.

If you are a bit smart with what you do, you can create your own passive recurring income stream that gives you some security and then focus on your startup. I do what my wife and me call "projects" together with her successfully for a few years and we have one of the relaxed, most balanced lifestyles of any person I know... A project usually means creating a new brand for product xy in her case, or a new website / service in my case. But everyone has their own way of doing things. This is how we run our company and it is pretty relaxed and successful so far.

I can confirm that. Using cell phones in public transportation was forbidden for a few years but is allowed now. People are usually pretty quiet in German trains. Many trains also have special areas for families with kids that are more noisy.

The first weeks when I was living in Bangkok the busy, nosiy, smelly environment really drained my energy. Using headphones and music to escape the noise pollution of downtown Bangkok really helped me.

Later on I developed some sort of tolerance to the constant noise. Anyway I had the choice to move to a city or to the countryside last year when I decided to go back to Europe and the absolute silence at 3am out here, next to the mountains in southern Germany, is amazing.

Many people are addicted to stimuli in whatever form because they do not want to be left alone with their thoughts. Some just turn on the TV whenever they are alone, some have to socialize and can't stand being alone, others do drugs. Time alone in the nature or meditation is quite the opposite and something I would wish those stimuli seeker would experience more often.

When people hear about the struggle to get one of these phones they get curious. I clicked like crazy to and luckily bought two phones... I have to say I look now a bit more forward to them because they took effort to get. This kind of stuff works for most human minds.

Wow, I just read some reviews and this seems to be great. Getting it right now on my Kindle. Thank you very much!

One book I recently read and I can recommend is "Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea"

It's pretty interesting to hear the real life stories of 6 people living under the North Korean regime (and then escaping it).

How do you decide that a country wants to be a democracy? There is no easy answer to this as well.

Iraq: A guy you know has a chronic illness and he will suffer more if he doesn't move more instead of just sitting at home. He doesn't think being more active is necessary. Is it proper that you force him to work out every day? (You also make some money if you force him to work out every day)

Mexico: You put dangerous trash in front of your house and the neighbor's kids use it to hurt each other and also throw it at your kids and sometimes hurt them. Is it proper to do something about that?

There is no right or wrong but I believe some things are obviously less wrong or more right than others.

Absolutely agree.

The problem with drugs has changed though in recent years. The new generation of addicts are doing mostly research chemicals or regular pills like painkillers and such.

So in a sense some of the biggest drug dealers in the future will be pharma companies. When you hear how severe something like oxycodone withdrawal is compared to heroin withdrawal you understand that our societies drug problems have not peaked yet.

What I think simply sucks is that the US brings democracy to countries if those countries want or not for whatever reasons but do not do anything about the civil war next door.

The next step in human evolution is to wake up and for people to at least try to see things as they are.
