Stripe all the way! They have the best infrastructure and security, you can build out any payments system with their APIs and now they even have treasury-as-a-service to build your own bank. Elon and Peter Thiel were early investors, I can't imagine any company catching up at this point.

Can you imagine a better way to destroy social mobility than by telling poor kids that the way to get rich is by exploiting people, while the rich kids know, from having watched the preceding generation do it, how it's really done?

I'm so glad someone finally said this, I wasn't sure if I was the only one with the same theory about inequality and it is articulated well here. It's "cultural inequality", inequality of cultural capital.

First confirmed case in Wuhan was on November 17th, and there were cases in Italy two months earlier? Any good explanations for this?

I can't believe we're at a point where I have to defend the right, but its actually the opposite. Most Republicans couldn't care less about race, but after constantly hearing how racist they are because of skin color(which is actual racism), they are put in this position to defend being colorblind, which the far left sees as the proof of their racism. Also, what incentive do white people have to be racist? it doesn't make sense.

Yes, fashionable in that suggesting we live in a deeply unequal society(not true) shows that you're one of the "good guys". Its just a social signal and at this point people have been hearing/saying it for so long that most probably believe people should be judged by the color of their skin, rather than your personality.

I'm assuming that you're comfortable incomes come from high skilled work, or at least work that is highly valuable. You may no longer be working as much now to earn the same, but you had to put years of hard work in to get there, most likely.

Once I saw the title of that video I knew they were all nonsense. What an inhumane thing to say, as if how hard you work has anything to do with what kind of person you are. Is there a certain net worth where you cross a line and no longer have a heart? The problem is not inequality, it's poverty.

I am an experienced and creative full-stack software engineer that is looking to join a mission driven company with interesting technical challenges. I have built complex web apps, designed algorithms, built a deep neural network using TensorFlow and can pick up new languages and frameworks in a short period of time.

I know it's just two of the files, but taking into account the rest of the pages for the FB app in 2007, it does not seem like a lot of code. One or two people could have written and maintained a project that size. What were all the new hires doing from 2005-2007?

Anyone know the laws around scraping news article meta-data(image, headline, publisher, url) directly from a publishers website? As long as I'm not scraping the full article, could I have my users share the scraped meta-data between each other?

Every project is different. Are you building a simple social networking app with basic auth and db? That should not take more than a week or so to build and launch. On the other hand, building a search engine or a semi sophisticated ML system will most likely take a month or more.

I used to be an Instacart Shopper and I'm currently taking a web development bootcamp in Manhattan and now I'm on track to make more money than my parents ever did, which is a win in my book. I will do everything I can to make it the next step to the "Inner Party", but what if I don't? Does that mean I "lost at life" if I only end up Upper Middle Class? This author is trying to push a neo-marxist victim ideology onto anyone not in the "Inner Party", and it's insulting. I am not a victim of anything, certainly not some impenetrable "caste system".

This is clever idea. From my first look it appears to be an Instagram-like social network, but with no user generated content. While social graphs themselves have value, I think we have hit an inflection point with users getting tired of sharing their personal content. Personally, I am much more interested in what other people like and have to say about mass media content rather than their selfies or wedding pictures, frankly I just don't give a damn about user generated content and I think I'm not the only one. We need more platforms like this for other types of content such as movies, TV, music and vetted news publishers. Just curious, is the news feed 100% reverse chronological? Do you have any ranking/recommendation algorithm for the discover tab?
