Somewhat. I remember that I was using Archie for finding files that were distributed via FTP. We had directories like Yahoo or DMOZ. At that time directories were the starting points for me. Internet seemed large, but not infinite.

For searching there was Altavista, Lycos, Hotbot, … Ask Jeeves was something that tried to be more that search engine. You had a feeling that now you can find all of the info and files on Internet. Google wasn’t the first one out there but it seems to me that it is the only one that survived.

I first played Pirates on C64. There was a paper version of the map that was a lot of help when you played and tried to find some locations.

But if you are user because of Path A, and startup midway decided to go on Path B what is your future? What if pivot isn't working for you as user?

I get it that if you are paying user you have some support or what ever.

The reason that I'm asking is this: how to justify the trust in some new technology devolved by startup? How can I convince decision makers that this is the way to go when 1 in 10 startups fail.

I've been creating product demo videos for more that 10 years. Camtasia is worth the money when in comes to capture. I hate the fact that they have switched to per-year pricing. I still use version from 2021 and it is great.
