If your todos cause you anxiety I invite you to ponder the following...

A good ToDo app should make flow feel completely natural.

It should use a tagging system for organization rather than a folder structure.

It should visually indicate if a task is urgent or not. It should visually indicate if there are file attachments. It should visually indicate if it has deadlines &/or reminders.

Every task should be available on every device and they should all allow for tasks to be:

Notes

Tasks proper

Scheduled Events

Any combination of the above

You should be able to have a dashboard to instantly filter by categories like urgent, completed, pending, upcoming deadlines, recently added, etc. etc. etc.

A todo that's different & new

[dead] 16 days ago

I searched the web yet I couldn't find an app that created REAL digital sticky notes on a storyboard, let alone categorize them as tasks, notes or scheduled events.

And forget about letting me add attachments and embed rich details like videos, images and urls.

So I built it.

Anyone can try TaskLoco FREE! No catch!

...

Still here? Then how about the back story?

I spent almost two years building my dream productivity app…. TaskLoco.com

TaskLoco is different.

TaskLoco is a true visual sticky-note storyboard style workspace for tasks, events, notes, projects, files, reminders, and anything you can stick in or attach to a digital sticky note.

Back in 2010, I came up with an idea for a visual productivity app built around digital sticky notes.

When I tried to commercialize it, I was told that without patent protection I could be sued out of existence by larger companies. So I spent years developing the concept and was awarded U.S. Patent US8548992 in 2013.

https://patents.google.com/patent/US8548992

Unfortunately, the company I founded to market it (MultiTask123) failed in 2015.

When the patent came up for renewal in 2017, I made a decision that many people thought was crazy: I let it expire.

The more I thought about software patents, the less I liked the idea of locking up concepts that could benefit everyone. If someone wanted to build their own version, I wanted them to be free to do it.

So the patent entered the public domain.

In 2024, I quit my day job and decided to give the dream one more shot.

Two years later, that effort became TaskLoco.

What are your thoughts on software patents? Should they be acquired as a defensive posture? Are they legitimate inventions?
