excellent, just appended '/html' to the default browser search engine url.

would be great if instead of having to use specific urls that this could be set up as a preference in settings. still, i'm a happy camper :)

you could design the page to be completely fluid and use up to 100% of the screen width.

this. the "improved" image search is terrible. very finicky and even hard to use--hardly simple.

re: ddg. regular user, but as others have pointed out already the ajax load for results is annoying (because it's slow and flashy/jerky).

never used posterous, but it looks more similar to blogger than wordpress. well suited for churning out a simple blog.

you're correct. the differences between wordpress and blogger are vast. you've mentioned the big ones already.

blogger is...

- easy to setup

- hard to customize

- limited in terms of features / plugins (if any)

- hosted as a service

so 3 of his rants could have been resolved by simply reading the docs. brilliant.

why is it so difficult to just not use it?

when i felt things were "out of control" i trimmed down my friend list by half and stopped contributing needlessly (no status updates, photos, comments, etc.)

i'll login roughly once a day, peek at my newsfeed, comment where i feel it's productive and log out.

deactivating your account because you use it alot is stupid since facebook does provide some usefulness. it's all about moderation, no?

i've installed and used it in a few years ago at a previous organization. it's alot of eye candy and nothing more. very limiting in terms of analytics (you're better off with google's offering). if i recall correctly we dropped it shortly after signing up.

despite it's shortcomings it's kinda fun to watch for awhile if you have significant traffic.
