Hashing with an insecure algorithm and without good salting isn't much better that not hashing at all though.

Yeah, I'm currently taking a computer security class for master students and we spend quite some time on passwords. Made me think that this should be in an obligatory course for bachelor students (or some stripped down version that teaches the basics).

It's mind-boggling how many well-known companies stored passwords badly.

I think OP is rather talking about window.{alert,prompt,confirm}, at least "ie, you can't interact with the page without answering the dialog" hints towards that

Does anyone know if this will effect student plans as well? So far it included a free micro plan with the usual 5 private repos. Would be pretty awesome, I just had to host a repo somewhere else a few days ago because I ran out of private repos.

Other than that it sounds like a great improvement, it'll make it a lot more likely that I'll pay for GitHub when I'm not a student anymore.

The person I was replying to asked "Do they operate in Brazil?". And considering that the app stores are on a country level, I'd say they do.

I wanted it to be a web app originally but it's not possible to do it in a nice way. For security reasons browsers don't allow to embed iframes to different domains or to even make AJAX requests to them.

Just to clarify: Do you mean there should be a refresh button for the comments view or should the app memorize what comments were already there the last time you viewed the page and highlight new comments?

This does sound a lot more useful. The majority of GitHub users don't have any real projects. Maybe only showing GitHub users that have more than n followers would be better.
