Does anyone know what "platform abuse" means ? I feel like CircleCI have been exceedingly quiet about the cause of 12 hours down-time.

This whole streaming idea has also got me thinking about how we are not leaving behind a legacy. There is nothing to discover once you are gone. Your subscription just... ends.

I’m not sure that’s how I want to live. I mean, it’s convenient having access. But now that I have had access, it’s clear that I actually still have to shop around on the services, and so I might maybe just as well buy what I want instead of buying all of something for a period, and lose any trace of it after.

I think I prefer buying.

What I don’t understand about this approach is why you think it actually does anything for you ? What you do instead of this is to setup an alert to monitor disk space at the right threshold for you, and then have a contingency plan for how to add more space to your environment.

It seems like you have sort of done that, but in this case you are actually allowing your system to get into a bad state before you react.

Perhaps it’s better to be proactive instead of reactive.

Decreasing the amount of meat you eat is really not that hard, and it’s SO easy to replace it with some nice chunky blanched vegetables and a more beans and some more plant based fats.

This whole pandemic emphasised healthy eating in our family, and not only are we eating more healthy food, but household is happier, more balanced and there’s just a way better spirit in the house now.

And cutting back on meat was the first step to realising that it’s not really hard to do.

I started reading a lot during corona. And I still am. I read all sorts of books, self help, philosophy, technical, sci-fi.

I’m so happy I finally started enjoying reading, and I will never stop now. It’s not only made me more calm, but also I tend to listen more to others, rather than needing to say my opinion on some subject. It’s like the more I read the more I know I have a lot to learn from others.

Even though I started late, it’s nothing I regret :-)

I would question why I was not planning to go somewhere else. If that’s how you feel, then you should be changing direction. This might come off elitist, or arrogant, but you have one life. One life to spend, not only for yourself, but with the ones you love, and with the things you would like to deal with. It shouldn’t be something that makes you feel miserable, if you have any kind of choice.

I can’t help wonder “where are the colleagues?”

It’s not that I expect someone to try and salvage a situation where someone is coding in Word - but is there more to the story when you say this went on for months ? I don’t think I have ever been in an environment where that would ha e been allowed to continue for that long... ? Sounds like an environment scared of dealing with things ?

There simply isn’t enough data to base predictions on. It will be close to random wether or not this system will “predict” a crime, to a similar degree that a clairvoyant can guess where the next crime will happen.

It seems like the law of small numbers at play here - or a snake-oil salesman doing a thorough job.

It’s a nice feature you can choose to use if you want. I’ve often been asked about projects on my gh account, and it’s good to have this tools alongside a static website tool like Jekyll

I thoroughly enjoy going to Indigo to browse their somewhat dated Software Dev. Books. I always find something that could be interesting in there. And I have to say that buying a book physically makes me commit to that purchase waaaaay more thank any ebook.

Wouldn’t a robot be capable of seeing and measuring if the screw is misaligned? There are more than one way to ensure that a screw goes in correctly. You are compensating for your inaccuracy by using sense of touch and kinaesthetic sense

He did. And he recently did a video talking about british research, which, having adjusted for socio-economic factors showed that the darker the skin colour the more likely the person would be to develop complications. His point here was that, dark skin impedes vitamin d generation.

There is more at play here in my opinion, that points to why HR definitely should be involved. The behavior exhibited is clearly that of a toxic person to have on staff. If that is how an employee talks about colleagues, it’s only fair that any chance to catch the behavior will be dealt with swiftly. Remember, this is just the only time it was caught. And for all parties involved it is best that it gets dealt with.
