I Changed My Name 13 days ago

Sweden actually removed middle names. I believe now you can have 1–2 last names, 1+ first names and 0 middle names. You can choose a given name that you are called which can be different than the first names but usually isn’t.

This causes problems with forms and at airports that don’t allow for Swedish name rules.

We used Adobe InDesign at my last work, which I believe is an industry standard. Affinity Layout if you don’t want to sell your kidney to Adobe. Scribus is an open source project but I’m not sure how the quality is in that.

Love Flameshot! Been using it for years since its cross platform so it works on macOS at home and Windows at work.

Come live in Sweden! Most cities have a "City Net" which is municipal fiber. I recently moved apartments and the new place had both coax and fiber. I just went on an ISP website input my apartment details and two days later I had 500/500 Mbps for $39.14 / month.

One can also use a compare service like Bredbandsval ("val" means both choice and whale) https://www-bredbandsval-se.translate.goog/?_x_tr_sl=sv&_x_t...

“No, it’s a special bottle“ The guest asked and got an answer. Is it tacky and reeks of entitlement, Yes, it does not haves to become awkward

Here in Sweden my employer reports my income tax and my investments app reports capital gains, to the Tax Authority. Last week I could log in, review the data, and e-sign it in less than 5 minutes. It turns out that I payed 53.80 dollars to much tax last year. Since I filed my taxes early (before March 30) they will pay it back on April 6 (instead of June 9).

For best programmer that might be to learn more Data Structures and Algorithms. Maybe try some LeetCode. See if you can find a senior programmer to be your mentor.

For best developer, I think it is good to learn a bit about each team member's role. Learn some UX design, Scrum Master, Tester, Product Owner and Database Admin. You don’t need to learn enough to be able to do their job but enough to understand how and what they work with.

Keep learning programming, more languages, you come from the web, learn some Golang, Rust, Elixir, Python, to learn different paradigms. Do some side projects about things that you are passionate about (I play Dungeons & Dragons so I have built tools and websites to help with that).

Maybe get a job at a consultancy, you get to work with different clients in different domains and learn a lot.

But as others have pointed out, don’t burn yourself out. It sucks and takes a long time to come back from. Godspeed

Programming Fonts 4 years ago

I really like Microsofts new standard font Cascadia Code. It comes with PowerLines, bold/cursive and ligatures.

Swede here, it’s really prevalent in Sweden to just use first names irrespective of who it is. Your boss, boss’s boss, your doctor, or as the case of an athlete winning an Olympic medal: even the prime minister, even calling her a nickname[1].

I believe it is partly due to a reform back in the days dropping thou and titles[2].
