That is incredibly shortsighted

Datacenters are means of production, no different than factories

Without means of production, you are at the mercy of those with

No different than outsourcing manufacturing

huge load on the power grid

Then build reliable power plants, ideally ones that aren't turned off every day at 10pm

If both leave, then the predecessor to the Kingdom of Great Britain was the Kingdom of England

Wales was already part of England, as principality / having been conquered

Though "United Kingdom of England" could argue that they kept the Irish crown :)

Because people want heat and electricity when the sun isn't shining and the wind isn't blowing enough (or at all) which happens pretty regularly

If you haven't won the geographic lottery then...

You can burn coal like there is no tomorrow (see Poland)

Or gas (see Germany, and most of Europe for heating), and enable Russia and other undesirables

Or nuclear and have energy security without directly and indirectly causing death and suffering for millions

Heatwaves caused by other countries burning coal and gas due to people that prefer burning burning coal & gas and causing climate change

Countries like here in Germany, where we have problems delivering coal to our coal plants due to low water levels caused by climate change caused by burning coal, poetic justice

She was proposed by the European Council (made up of more or less democratically elected heads of state/government) and approved by the European Parliament (democratically elected representatives)

That is as "elected" as many heads of government i.e. any prime minister system

Directly electing presidents doesn't necessarily lead to better outcomes

Being a member of a church should be opt-in not opt-out - by the individual, not their parents

e.g. upon reaching adulthood you are sent an opt-in confirmation

If you ignore, you are automatically removed

It is absurd that you have to waste your time & money to make an appointment, go to the appointment and on top of that pay to opt-out

I dunno about de-facto, my anecdata is my heating is in the process switching from L-Gas to H-Gas, have not heard any mention of replacing gas in the near future for existing properties

Wonder what the stats are for new builds being with gas heating vs without

Am not optimistic about German electricity handling the switching of heating and transport (cars) on top of existing usage+growth as long as we're antinuke (:

Germany needs gas thanks to years of anti-nuclear, which is why we have 4x+ the carbon output for electricity of "nuclear is in bad shape" France

The only way Germany is getting rid of coal & gas is if France builds enough nuclear to power and heat Germany

I bought a bike pump yesterday from the bike shop around the corner

I checked Amazon first to have a price in mind (12€), I paid 13€

1€ to not have something shipped to me & convenience of getting it immediately, plus helps keep the local bike shop around in case I need a repair I felt was worth it
