In Salt Lake City, Utah the trams are free in the downtown area. You only have to pay if you ride it outside of there. That seems like a nice way to do it. People who wouldn't normally ride it use it because it's free. And then maybe some of them end up using it more often when they see how nice it is.

I immediately did some searches to see if I could find prints, or even high-quality images of some of the pieces. Alternatively, I think it could be fun to try to recreate the works of art myself.

Somewhat related, there's a series of German videos made for kids that show how a car is manufactured. It's mostly the bodywork and assembly, not engine stuff, but it's still a good overview. If you're interested in this stuff, it could be worth watching, even if you don't understand German.

Wouldn't you assume that closed-source products would generally have a competitive advantage against open-source products? Especially for products where most of the contributions to the project are from the company selling it. With closed-source you have to worry less about people simply selling copies of your design without having to have invested in any of the design process. Competitors also can't as easily include your design improvements into their products. And, there's definitely a cost associated with sharing internal designs.

Are you sure those are the same bulbs? The ultra efficient versions sold on Amazon have reviews going back to 2017. Supposedly the Dubai-style bulbs were only available in Dubai even a few years ago.

But that Arduino tooling and all the libraries, tutorials, etc. wouldn't exist if nobody had bought Arduinos. If I'm just buying a few boards for personal projects I like to support companies that provide more than just hardware to the maker community.

It doesn't look like they are building risk into the playgrounds, as much as they are building the feeling of risk. which isn't necessarily a bad thing. This seems like a compromise that should be seen as better, or at least acceptable to both extremes of parents.

Also, "The Triitopia tower is encased with boards and netting to ensure no child can take a tumble from a height above three metres." Kids used to climb on the outside and on top of tall playground structures like that. But they're making sure this much more difficult to attempt. This is not a criticism, just my observations.

That's not at all what he meant. He was saying that in both cases the stunt man is getting injured, but in the case of digital it doesn't look better than CGI, so at that point why not just do CGI and eliminate the injuries.

Also note that it should be "300 meter resolution". You don't use a plural when using it as an adjective. I only point this out to help people because this is a common grammar mistake for non-native speakers.

Also, you don't need to run continuously. It's perfectly fine to run for a couple minutes and then walk a bit. I think people's definitions of exercise are often too strict, or constrained.

Another way to get into running is to start by just going for a brisk walk and run a little bit when you feel like it. That's how I got into trail running. I was going for long hikes, and at some point I started jogging short sections (maybe only 30 seconds) when I was feeling good. By doing this I could limit the total amount of running I was doing while still getting a good workout in.

If you think that's crazy, read about the old Tour de France races. The stages were significantly longer than they are now (300 km to 480 km), and for a while the bikes only had two speeds. To change which gear you were in you had to take the wheel off and flip it around.

In the 1913 Tour, Eugène Christophe broke his fork. He walked two hours to the nearest blacksmith, spent 3 hours repairing the fork himself (otherwise it would have been outside help), and he still got a time penalty because he let a little boy pump the bellows for him.

I have my old TI-86 which seems to have the same problem so I'll have to try the same technique.

The TI calculators were amazing environments for learning assembly. There are a bunch of good tutorials and the computer is relatively simple and you get direct access to the display.
