This is actually addressed in the paper. Basically you can use testing to detect the timebomb, up to a negligible probability.

This paper is approachable, it's understandable without too much background if you're interested in the topic.

Basically splitting the trusted circuit and testing the parts separately. This requires a trusted master circuit, but it can be arbitrarily small.

FYI, you have a typo in the FAQ: "Can I change the time I get asked for an update?". I think "change my time" should be "change my settings".

My blog[0] runs on a 30 line bash script that generates the html from markdown, hosted on github pages. It would take about 10 minutes to change the host.

What I write isn't interesting per se, but I don't want to depend on the bon vouloir of a VC-backed startup somewhere to keep a whopping 4.3kB online.
