If your system's public API requires me to understand all the internals to use it, then it's indeed confusing.

Grok Build has been useless for me personally. Claude is the only one that works best.
I find Deepseek to be a great compromise between cost and performance. Anthropic and OpenAI are simply too expensive at this point.
I think we should consider our privilege if we are in a position to think that 95,000 isn't that much money..
You get promoted and let other people deal with the mess.
The truth is that no one in management cares about your perfect code, they only care about the projects you deliver, the features you push out and the meeting KPIS.. Your customers don't care about your perfect abstractions either, they just want the button to work when it's clicked.
You can always argue about maintenance, but who is going to listen? By the time it's an issue, the business is throwing money at the problem to make it go away. Heck, even major security issues are a nothing burger.. I've lost count on the number of breaches big companies have had in the last decade..
Such is the plight of our industry.
Even that is being automated now, it was one of the thing being automated very early on in factories..
Are you sure the claim is false?
No one in Iran wants their children bombed for US to "free them". US and Israel don't care about Iran.
They just want to destroy our country and take our wealth. Like they have been doing all over the world.
Source: Iranian who doesn't support the Islamic Republic, but have some family members who do.
We can resolve our internal issues with discourse (and sometimes violence if it comes to it).
Also Half-Life: Alyx!
I was diagnosed with Secondary Hypogonadism few years ago.
After a series of tests, it was determined that my Testostrone levels well below normal.
My urologist prescribed HCG after I insisted that I wanted to have children someday. It has been a life changer and the best part is that my sperm count has doubled.
Unfortunately, HCG Mono will not treat all forms of Hypogonadism, some patients have to take Testosterone Cypionate which comes with serious side effects like hair loss, infertility, etc
HCG also shares some of those side effects but it saves your fertility and prevents Testicular atrophy.. Also it doesn't shut down your natural production albeit it does suppress LH receptors by default..
My point is this: if you suspect having Testostrone issues, don't randomly inject yourself with hormones.. go see a urologist and get a serious treatment.

I suppose the question is: will customers and business people care?
At the end of the day, if the system does what it needs to do to in exchange for money, then it's a success if people's eyes. Heck, even basic security and privacy features get ignored in most systems.
Average person treats their computers like any other appliance, they don't care if the app takes 10 minutes to load, or is slow, or ad ridden, they just want it to work.
Engineers obsess about code quality as an artistic expression but the reality is that executives and investors won't care. You can scream "maintenance burden!" all you want, but investors will happily throw money at the problem down the line to make it go away.
Our industry simply doesn't have any required rigor outside of a few edge cases in heavily regulated industries.
If you're going to exercise 3+ times a week, make sure to work on different parts of your body during each session or you risk injuring yourself.
For example if you are doing arm exercises Monday, don't do arm exercises again Tuesday, work another muscle groups like your legs.
I had to learn this the hard way when I was starting out..
I'm not sure if you've played these games but that's not at all what they are like. They have great gaming mechanics, combat and complex world setups.
Perhaps you are mistaking them with Ubisoft's open world games? or describing another installment of Life is Strange?
I don't know why this topic would be surprising for people. The elephant in the room is that right leaning people tend to be more religious (or have experienced a religious uprising).
Religion puts an incredible amount of social pressure on children, marriage and families. This is why most conservatives advocate for traditional gender roles, rally against abortion, etc.
My own personal experience of growing in a conservative Islamic country, then converting to Christianity after moving to the West is a testament of how social pressure has an impact on this.
My wife (from South America) was similarly raised in a conservative family. We have delayed having children but it has reached a boiling point where we have to absolutely discuss having kids now.
Yes, there are other factors like affordability that prevents left leaning people from having kids, but to me those are secondary reasons. This social dynamic is simply not there in Liberal circles.
It should just say "Rent" instead of "Buy"
Yes, they have also lost Tiberian Sun and Firestorm I think.. very unfortunate.
At 30, they'll probably be picking you up instead, I'm 37, grown too strong and easily lift my dad lol
Unless you have surgically implemented birth control (such as vasectomy), the pregnancy chance logically increases with higher rate of sexual activity with multiple partners.
Mistakes happen. Birth control is not 100% effective.. condoms break, women forget to take the pill, etc.
Of course it goes without saying you have a much higher chance of pregnancy if you're not using any form of birth control.
Isn't the Atheistic position that there is a rational, scientific explanation for everything? Thus we don't need to reach the realm of divine?
This basically eliminates any occurrences of God, Angels and so on.
What I'm trying to say is this: if you can scientifically proof the existence of supernatural , then by logic there's no such thing as supernatural.
This is not true, Atheists position is that there is no God. Agnostics position is that there may, or may not be a God.
In this case, you're talking about Agnosticism rather than Atheism.
About half or so have been destroyed if one averages various estimates
This is a pretty bold claim. What's your source for this?
Wise, like any other fintech is fun until it randomly closes your account and bans you. No one can ban you / freeze your assets with Crypto, that's a good selling point imo.

Same with Iran, they clearly said that their control of internet access it prevent Western influence, as a national security issue. China did something similar with their firewall.
I personally think the era of free and unrestricted Internet is coming to an end. All the nations in the West are following suit, including Canada with the introduction of C-34.
As an Iranian, I should mention that all the money going to Iran is not going to the Iranian people. The government will simply gobble it up, like everything else and use it to fund the resistance groups and enrich themselves.
Iranians will not benefit much, however they will benefit from sanction relief for sure. I know some of them has to pass through congress and that's virtually impossible considering the Israeli influence in the US government, but I'm hopeful that TRUMP is at least forced to remove _some_ of them.
Economical sanctions always hurt the ordinary citizens and hardly the government.
Do you believe the housing crisis, living wages and affordability is better than it was 20 years ago? 40 years ago? If so, where ?
Higher level of comfort in what sense?
Most people on the planet can't afford a home or start families. They can barely pay their rents to avoid ending on up the street.
Iranian here as well. This war was a complete disaster, US bombed our kids, our homes and killed more than 3000 people.
I’ll be the first one in line to spit on IRGC. I had my cousin sent to Evin for six months after the Mahsa uprising. She was tortured and will never live a normal life again. But I’m glad IRGC defended the land and didn’t let US and Israel turn it into another Syria.
I think that internal Iranian issues should only be dealt with from within. I’m not going to celebrate the West attempting to interfere in our affairs.
Right now half the country supports the IRGC and this war increased the number of hardliners in the “Majles”. Just look at the new IRGC commanders in charge.
If the West genuinely was interested in helping the Iranian people, they would start by taking away the sanctions that our suffocating our people.
In short, I agree with your central argument, which ironically coincides with the regime’s talking points: “dialogue with the West is useless.”
I'm Iranian, now living in the west. Allow me to chime in..
So Iran doesn't have a central command, they've developed a mosaic system where the 30+ chains operate autonomously. It is also multi-layered (IRGC, Artesh, Basij, etc).
The multi-layered design was developed after the revolution, when they realized that the regime should be protected in case of internal mutiny.
IRGC specifically was put in place to protect the regime and it only responds to the Supreme Leader. Neither the president or the parliament control it.
The mosaic system was started few years back after the assassination of Qasem Soleimani (though it possibly dates further, I can't confirm this).
The biggest mistake US & Israel did was underestimating Iran, specifically their defensive capabilities. They've prepared for this war for 47 years, _literally_ praying for it. You had Abbas Araghchi on TV literally inviting American army into Iran for a ground invasion.
What the West doesn't understand is that you can't really dismantle an ideology by dropping bombs on civilians. It didn't work in Afghanistan, it didn't work in IRAQ and it's not working with IRAN.
The Shia martyrdom culture is misunderstood. I was not being hyperbolic when I said they have been praying for this war. Their motto is "Every day in Ashura, every land is Karbala".
Anyway, I'll land it here for now.

They can make your life difficult for sure, but they can't hold you indefinitely as a citizen.
I think generally, extremist views tend to echo further than nuanced ones. This goes for any major topic really: whether it's politics, religion, arts, etc.
The AI discussion on HN is exhilarated by the fact that it can have a tangible impact on people's lives on this forum. You add to this the possibility of a minority extracting an unfathomable amount of wealth from the hype train and we lose all hope for a moderate discussion.
My own views on this are rather boring. After having tried various models, I've reached the conclusion that it adds minor benefits to my workflows, but I don't have to lose sleep from Claude reaching singularity anytime soon..
I’m not the one claiming having children is noble, parent was claiming that people are forgoing having children as a noble act.
Secondly, I’m allowed to express my opinion about a term. You can disagree and think the term child-free doesn’t have negative connotation but in my read it does. So im not sure what you’re trying to argue.
