I built my own script to get a seat near the middle and towards the back at the Metreon but so far I have not seen many available. My guess is checking 15 minutes is too slow. And also I've been getting rate-limited by Cloudflare. Not sure if I want to pour more resources into getting around it.

The Metreon is running IMAX 70MM showings for 24 hours straight today started at 3AM, [half hour for previews, 3 hour movie, half hour cleanup], then 7AM, 11AM, 3PM, 7PM, 11PM and one on Sunday at 3AM and all showings are basically full. It is crazy.

I have an M4 Max and when I was trying out local LLM work with pi it has probably felt like the hottest I've ever felt any kind of Macbook be. I could feel the radiated heat off it even a few inches away. Honestly felt hotter than any Intel Macbook I've used. Because of that I stopped as I didn't want to harm my laptop in case I need to hold it for 10 years due to all the supply issues/price increases.

It is just easy pickings to blame npm specifically. Yes, while they do share some part of the blame, no package manager is immune from attack and certainly not ones where the attackers exploited being able to extract out secrets from a developer's environment variables or files. Seems more like developers should be managing their secrets better?

An Earthquake happened in SF recently where I got a push notification from Apple/iOS and I felt it maybe 5-10 seconds later. Nothing fancy though just a notification. I'm guessing it's not on for Japan? Seems like this app shows way more.

i saw a tiktok where the guy had his phone propped up but not in view of his webcam, and basically the interviewer's mic was going through his phone on some llm and the llm was spitting out responses for him to reply to the soft questions his interviewer was asking. the interviewer also made him "quickly" turn on his screen sharing so he could see that his computer didn't have anything assisting him.

It took me a while to realize that first section was about how to guess based off the Google Street View car's characteristics (tire, roof rack). I didn't know people were even allowed to use that as part of the game. I guess I'm only watching some specific people like rainbolt, who seems to use the terrain and other city landmarks (stop signs, poles along highways, etc) for his guesses.

now did they have too many? maybe. but maybe also because they were expecting apple to announce a new ios at the wwdc that was happening in june.. or maybe lots of 0-day exploiters suddenly wanted to dump their exploits knowing that apple was probably going to be patching them soon. oddly enough that tweet about resuming payment coincided with the release timeline of ios 14.

most of this is irrelevant though because we lack any information. what is, "too many"? 10? 100? 1000? it could be that just like any other middleman they sometimes need to sit on "inventory" and they can't just buy up that many at one time in case apple fixes them all in an update.

I have a very old account that I still use for some email forwards to my main account. Even though I can verify all the other requirements, since I haven’t logged into that account with a machine it recognizes that I still have, apparently I will never be able to log into the account. Literally nothing can be done because google would rather take the easy way to handle this.

What I want implemented.. Chrome/Firefox whatever... is that instead of unloading and reloading when I go back to the tab I want it to export basically an HTML file and when I click back to that tab, I want it to reload the HTML file instead with some notification/marker that it is a "cached" version. There are times where I'll leave a tab in the background that I don't want refreshed but when it gets unloaded, poof, I lose the original data from that page.

I know about Chrome and its ability to prevent discards, but I want this to be the default or at least a toggle option. I don't mind the unloading of the tab, I just get annoyed when it reloads.
