Sudo for Windows 2 years ago

So Microsoft implicitly admits DOS sucks and creates a PowerShell prompt.

Then Microsoft doubles down and introduces a better prompt called WSL - the Windows Subsystem for Linux because the Windows command prompt still sucks... and this is just a Ubuntu VM in Windows.

And now they implement Sudo?

Microsoft hasn't learned the first lesson of holes - when you find yourself in one, stop digging.

Microsoft's fiscal year is split on the calendar. Their fiscal goes from July 1 - June 30. IOW, it's currently in FY'23... FY'24 starts July 1, 2023.

Their service with their existing delivery service (Amazon Logistics) has been TERRIBLE thus far. Lazy drivers leaving packages in clear sight in the middle of the driveway, unreliable delivery estimates, etc.

This last Christmas season, everything shipped from Amazon via UPS / FedEx arrived on time as expected. Everything Amazon shipped via their AMZN Logistics / USPS was late, 50% arrived after Christmas even when ordered on December 14.

We've stopped shopping at Amazon in favor of other vendors who let you pick your shipping service. Their customer service just keeps collecting information, but it's not getting any better.

If SWA is cheaper than FedEx or UPS, you can bet that customers will opt for Amazon’s service instead.

You get what you pay for... I'll avoid Amazon until I can pick my own RELIABLE carrier. UPS & FedEx have shown they are reliable.

Similar hate post coming from me soon. I have an MSA & Office 365 (Azure AD) login using the same email. I use my MSA to login to my Surface, but now, all the sudden, I can't setup Outlook to connect to my O365 email. Their solution: rename your MSA. My response "no freaking way... no telling how much stuff that's going to break as I've used that MSA for over a decade".

And then I read your post today... I'm glad I closed my Surface and went back to my MacBook last night...

While you may think this is a step in the wrong direction, that's just an opinion. While NFC / Bluetooth LE would be preferred so I can pay with my phone, that would mean every merchant would need to have a reader that supported that technology. Today only some merchants support paying with QR codes. At the very least, COIN is a killer stop-gap solution, a convenient & technical solution that would work with every merchant out there.

I personally had no issue giving them $55, the same concept behind kickstarter, for the money to produce my goods. Consider me an investor of 1 unit.
