I love the idea! I want to use it for a commercial product (start with self-hosting). However, I'm unsure how the License on the website (tambo.co/license) interacts with the MIT/Apache 2.0 on the GitHub repo. Could you shed some light on this?

I was not trying be to snarky. I was genuinely curious to know how it is priced after the oracle acquisition. As a language that I am most used to, I wanted to evaluate how much it'd cost (a rough estimate based on cores/users) if I were to launch a web service based on Java.

How does Java pricing work these days (after being bought by Oracle)?

I posted it on HN as I liked the points in the article. The points in the post are reasonable provided there's fair equity for the employees (which I believe is disclosed prior to joining - I have no knowledge about dilution, preference etc). I also agree with the commenters on HN that it doesn't make much sense when there's no equity.

I personally find what Alex is doing is inspiring, running a 200 person company (ref: article) at 23 is remarkable. I also applaud his courage to publicly share what he thought was best advice.

Thanks for this! This is something I've been practicing of late. I realized that have a lot of problem in arguing the correctness of greedy algorithms. Do you have any recommendation for a collection of proof techniques useful for greedy algorithms?

Please consider doing basic research before being very critical. The wait time for Indian and Chinese born H1B immigrants to get a Green Card (permanent residency) is almost two decades. Hence, it is indeed not possible for the author (India born) to have a Green Card/Citizenship in a span of a decade as a H1B holder.

As with any mapping data, security of recorded data is paramount.

This project (and any smart glass for that matter) is a privacy nightmare. But labeling video and audio data as mapping data instead of what it is is disingenuous. And more importantly, even if I'm not a user of this product and don't benefit from it in any way, I have to forego my privacy because of someone else's choice. I wonder at what point will these anti-privacy technology will be banned. How could this work under GDPR?!

I agree that Goods still have to be produced. I didn't say UBI is a substitute for economic activity. I didn't say UBI was all that you need. You are attacking a straw man here.

To expand a bit more, UBI might help service workers and others other hourly wage workers to take care of themselves. The service workers are the people who interact with other people the most, so an infected service worker who doesn't have an option but to work will end up spreading the disease. UBI might be the answer to temporarily keep them alive.

All of us have to live on reserves if there's a shutdown. Just like China did. It is not going to be great. But the alternative is much worse. And I am not claiming this is a permanent solution.

It is sad but inevitable that economic activity will be disrupted by shutdowns. But delaying the shutdown will only lead to longer shutdown down the lane.

Fwiw, I am a foreign grad student currently happy with the lifestyle in Canada. But I'm wondering whether I've made the right career move moving to Canada.
