The problem is that code as a 1-off is excellent, but as a maintainable piece of code that needs to be in source control, shared across teams, follow standard SLDC, be immutable, and track changes in some state - it's just not there.

If an intern handed me code like this to deploy an EC2 instance in production, I would need to have a long discussion about their decisions.

Like many things it’s a combination of many answers, but from my own experience it’s a simpler pipeline with Apple phones. On Android it’s supporting tons of screen sizes, out of date versions, different vendor modifications to the OS.

Looking at it as iOS vs Android isn’t correct because Android is a fragmented mess.

I've been hearing remote work is the future for many years now, but haven't seen much movement toward the goal.

Now, we are in a pandemic and everyone is forced to be at home, not by choice, but by necessity.

Everyone is still saying remote work is now accelerated, but no one had a choice if they wanted to work remotely or not...

Of course there will be some increase in remote working after the pandemic, but I think the vast majority is going to return to the office.

Not because they can't work from home, but just because they don't want to work from home.

Not sure why this is surprising as most people who are out of work don't have any equity in the stock market. I think it's more a reflection of income inequality and the concentration of capital. There is a huge disconnect indeed.

They don't treat them as equal because of the legal system. I believe in the eyes of the law, if you treat a non-FTE as a FTE then they are essentially as FTE. That means companies have to treat CWs this way as a means to protect themselves against litigation. It's a little more complicated then just "the purpose of making money"

So I guess in theory you can block that port outbound to all hosts to handle TLS's use case.

HTTPS is tougher, but just block all traffic to those hostnames with a DNS blacklist.

The biggest thing is are the Android apps actually usable...

I bought a Pixel C and it was a horrible experience using mostly all apps... most major apps only support landscape, there is no auto focus on text boxes, horrible graphics in full screen, etc... I returned it 1 hour after using it.

You can install Remix OS and their way of dealing with this is scaling down apps to mimic a phone interface. I'm not sure how Chrome OS will solve this problem.

There's virtually no Android apps made for these interfaces/sizes.

Hey how valid is this information? I didn't quite grasp if they counted in other factors, for example, people incurrent jobs that will pass away. Additionally data such as baby boomers are getting older and will create markets in stagnant areas at the moment.
