Kubernetes is insurance for companies against getting locked in proprietary technologies.

It also promotes immutable infrastructure and hence increases the portability. While some of the things like load balancers and ingress are controlled by cloud provider almost everything else can be seamlessly migrated to another cloud provider or on prem.

It makes dev, test, staging, prod environments consistent and also solves a lot of pain points of managing infrastructre at scale with autoscaling, auto healing and more. Istio adds a lot more kubernetes and makes the supporting microservices even easier.

Its going to be an important piece in Hybrid world as it brings a lot of standardization and consistency in two disparate environments.

You always have an option of doing something of your own. For me I waited and switched different jobs for 10 years before realizing that perfect job could be a myth. I was most satisfied when I was building my own tech but then I am back in the race after working for myself for 2 years.

A good article indeed, i see that a lot of employees are confused about their stock options specially in emerging markets like India, where we have seen quite a few unicorns come up in last 3-5 years.

I also really like the advice about privately held companies, who want to remain private. Things get very tricky there and on top of that mostly no one understands what to do with the stock options.

Unless you are able to do a secondary sale of the stock options they dont carry any value and i don't think a lot of privately help companies allow that. Not to ignore the tax you have to pay when you want to buy stocks, even though you cannot sell it.

There are so many players in the market for chat, the only goo reason for someone using imessage on android will be to chat with people on iphone's and mac.

The whole article seems exaggerated, Though the CPC prices have been rising at a very fast pace, there is a possibility they might get corrected in future.

On the other hand, the amount of money/funding in the market and a considerable amount being spent on advertising as its one of the easiest paid method to get traffic on your site.

Facebook on the other hand is bullish on mobile traffic, also since it being a relatively new the CPC's are cheaper there., but i dont think they have much more control as to who sees their adverts, fake clicks and profiles are everywhere.

The only area where both Facebook and Google are not market leaders is the programmatic side of advertising. Since it is so fragmented, there have been a lot of smaller players (trading desks and DSP's) taking advantage of that. Since these are relatively smaller companies they dont have such sophistication of fraud detection as google or fb leading to people gaming the system and loosing trust in them.

React v0.14 11 years ago

Well i think it will take some time for libraries and components to be updated. For me currently at least react router should provide a compatible build with react 0.14

One thing which is not clear about kafka or kinesis is when you have multiple consumers for the same topic how will they get the data and in what order , and what happens when consumers die down. How do you handle consumers in your data pipeline ?
