Good catch. I haven't found a proper source other than a quotation from some HN comment, so I'm not sure if it actually is POSIX valid or not, just that many people seem to think it is.

Oracle was relying on behaviour that was POSIX valid so I don't see how it is "incorrect code".
Since the paid tiers have paid for the free tier for at least 9 years, I'd imagine that it shall remain available for at least a few more years.
I haven't read the article yet but I think that means that UDP was used less than TCP and so routers/operating systems didn't optimize for it as much as they did for TCP. Hope this helps.

Really? I used the website on Chrome on my Samsung Galaxy M12 (a fairly average smartphone) and the experience was fine.
If the user experiences stuttering while decoding a video, they won't learn to enable special permissions for the website but instead switch to a different browser that hasn't yet implemented this "feature".
And most websites most users visit will need the GPU to be remotely usable. For them enabling specific permissions for every website they visit is very inconvenient.

In a lot of developing countries, Facebook is often the only app that a significant part of the population uses. And that includes young adults as well.
For some reason I couldn't browse the home page but I could still access my messages (website).
I think this depends a lot on where you currently live. Maybe if you live in a very closely knit and/or isolated area, other people might welcome you with open arms. But if you try the same thing in a cafe at a busy street you might be greeted with curt responses that try to politely reject your attempts at making conversation.

I don't think anecdotal evidence would be very convincing in this case, since your success (there has to be a better word for this) would largely depend on your percieved attractiveness and/or approachability. The setting might not play as big of a role as you think it does.

I'm not GP but I didn't get that impression from their comment. I agree with them in that the meeting-people-at-coffeeshops is an overused cliche that was popularized by pop culture/media with lower chances of success.
Ah, I hadn't considered that a smaller size could be seen as a symptom of an inferior/incomplete feature set when compared with competitors.
I think the 2nd person in the article you read was Scott Bell, who stopped working on HN around 2019 [1]. Still, dang isn't the only moderator here [2], just the only one who posts publicly.
I used to use it a lot in the past and I think it was mostly the convenience factor for me personally. I didn't want to learn another piece of software and I thought that WinRar did what it was supposed to do, reasonably well.

I thought this was relevant mostly for line of code or similar metrics used to evaluate the size of projects (build sizes not being one of them). Or are you trying to imply that artifically inflating the perceived size of a project can indirectly and consistently affect the build sizes as well?

Some economies of scale take effect not with the scale of production but with the size of the business. And Apple is as big a business as any.
Depends on what you mean by working. If you mean able to render a standard HTML5 page with a little bit of CSS and no javascript, a game engine would probably be more complicated. But to create a browser that implements most/all of the features a modern browser offers, without becoming bloated, I think that would be far more harder than any game engine we have right now.
