A comparable question would be wondering whether the computer you are using right now, at this point in time, is inside a for loop, or a while loop, or it's just using tail recursion.

You could bootstrap Zombal as a "payment system" for scientific reviews.

Get in touch with the organisers of a national-level scientific conference. They could offer reviewers the option of getting Zombal credits for their (currently unpaid) work. Reviews are automatically meta-reviewed (by the acceptance), you could use that information.

If you do so, please make it fully automatic: conference review websites are already painful to use.

You could also use the information that the reviewers provide about themselves.

There you have lots of people who might be keen on getting some sort of recognition for their currently unpaid work.

I found using EC2's non-micro instances somehow inconvenient because boot times seemed to be too long for casual use, plus I had to pay extra for a permanent IP. Maybe I'm too lazy, or perhaps the micro instances are more suitable for that purpose?

For the Airbus style of jobs perhaps you should consider Hamburg (similar costs, much smaller) because there you could find... Airbus. Not so international atmosphere, though, although the harbour is major local industry.

This thought sprung up: On-demand reinforcement, the kind that one would get just by asking for it, makes us dumb, like kids lavished with "positive feedback".
