To be a bitcoin believer, its not necessary to think it will displace fiat. Bitcoin is deflationary like gold, so it shouldn't be much different then the gold commodity market or returning to a gold standard. For most of the united States growth and prosperity, it was on the gold standard.

As you said, this is only a qualification of 'mature' markets. Also, central banks do not fiddle with interest rates to keep the value stable. They fiddle with interest rates to stimulate economic growth, which causes instability through bust boom cycles...kicking the can down the road.

There is no requirement for any number of coins to be in the system. The amounts are infinitely divisible. You could start the economy with 1 bitcoin, and break it into 7 billion fractions for everyone to share..and if all those are lost, you could do the same with the last 1 bitcoin again.

Demolished it how? All I have seen is that Keynes promotes printing of money and lots of government spending, and the people in power love this! Please enlighten us.

Most people don't seem to realize that when your currency inflates, there are people who get the new money. Inflation=wealth redistribution

I would not short gold or Apple either, the risk would be huge! So are you agreeing that bitcoins will become worth more then? So I shouldnt take a bitcoin loan out, I should take a dollar loan out and buy bitcoins with it. Or you are saying bitcoins are bad so they will go down in value ... and I should... whaaat?

Finance 101, its called hedging. You can invest in dollars, euros, bitcoins, google, gold, food or whatever. They all have relative leverage and are all investments. Purchasing bitcoins means to investing in a share of the bitcoin economy. Its a startup currency which has never happened before. The increase in trading value has created an enormous amount of funding for bitcoin startups.

Thats it? Your big punch on deflation is the "psychological effect"? You seem to fundamentally not understanding math and have an emotional attachment to a particular scale of measurement.

"So there are no police, only private security guards. There are no “laws” per se, but most people deal with trade disputes through private “loser pays” arbitration courts. So contracts between organizations and people define what the “law” is. Murder, rape, and other violent crimes are basically non-existent, but when they do occur, communities typically ensure justice is swiftly dealt. You might call it vigilantism by community consensus. People don’t take very kindly to murders, thieves, and rapists in their neighborhoods if you catch my drift. Since everyone is usually armed, robbing or hurting someone typically winds up like a gun store robbery today. The person attempting the crime gets gunned down rather swiftly or driven out of town by private security. Lord help them if they kill someone."
