I spent a weekend using Claude Code to build a small reactive UI library on top of Effect called effect-ui. It’s an experiment in building a UI system entirely on Effect’s primitives like streams, fibers, and scopes, without a virtual DOM or reactive wrappers. Components run once, updates flow through streams. The result was surprisingly coherent and showed how capable Effect already is for UI work.

I wrote this piece after noticing how often europe gets dismissed in tech discussions as "the place that regulates instead of innovating."

but when you look closer, the EU's approach, emphasizing privacy, open standards, and long term social impact is quietly influencing how tech companies around the world operate. GDPR, AI governance, sustainability directives, all of these have become global reference points.

I'm curious how others see this: is Europe's model genuinely shaping global tech culture, or just forcing compliance? can innovation thrive in a system that prioritizes human outcomes over disruption?

Would love to hear your thoughts, especially from people working in both European and US tech contexts.
