well you might get downvoted, but its still true, just look what Robert Maxwell did with the PROMIS software. That was also coincidentally Mossad.

I recently switched to using a metronom when I play live with my band and it changed everything.

When you play live, you are always rushing a little bit, the louder you play, the faster you play.

Now when we play according to our own tempo from our recordings, I really have to concentrate not to start rushing again - but it is so worth it, everything sounds much better in a precise way.

I tried switching to Firefox so many times but have to go back to Chrome for performance reasons.

There is still an open problem on Retina Macbooks with scaled resolution where the performance drops like 10x over non-scaled versions.

PHP in 2019 7 years ago

Just today, I had to resize the swap on a raspberry pi so composer could update the dependencies.

I wonder what will happen if somebody motivates a lot of people to register on a site, to push them over the threshold.

It may also be possible to split your forums to different sites / domains if you reach the thresold.

Anyhow I can't see how this will play out in real life and I hope our president will step in and prevent it from happening at all.

The standard in PHP-frameworks like Laravel is to automatically throw Exceptions when a Notice happens, which at first I thought was overly aggressive but I would never go back to writing PHP where a Notice is thrown and ignored.

I would argue that every user wants E2E, they just don't know (enough) about it. E2E should be the default.

Goodbye, EdgeHTML 8 years ago

I had the exact same experience as the grand parent comment.

Seriously wanted to switch to Firefox after the browser-sign-in "feature" but the performance on my high-end 2018 macbook pro with 16gb ram was just abysmal (20 tabs open tops).

That one bit me really hard today.

We're using hundreds of raspberry's as digital signage devices and before deploying them I checked a few of them and found out that sometimes the source files of the app were empty.

After a lot of headscratching and googling we boiled it down to a write delay to the SD card.

If you do echo "test" > test.txt and power off the device like 5 sec. after, and power it on again, there was a file called test.txt with 0 bytes.

I'm still baffled how something like this can be a common problem especially since raspberry pi usage is so widespread
