Lasers in space are fun! We[1] are actually doing this for real but automated and inversed -- launching a satellite with a laser to beam data down to Earth. Like these searchlights, but from orbit!

There is also https://pairdrop.net - same thing, but you don't have to download anything, it works on the web.

I know it won't fix the core issue, but you can try (at least on android) Firefox with uBlock Origin (with filter lists for cookies and annoyances enabled). It makes the web usable on mobile for me.

I use it for fonts. My website [0] consists of about 15kB of compressed HTML + CSS and 200kB of fonts.

I've done last two AoCs in F# (well, only the first few days too). For a person without prior functional programming experience, it was fun! Unfortunately I won't have time to participate this year, but if I did, I'd probably chose F# again.

Wouldn't introducing actual privacy laws be better than censoring part of the internet? I doubt that American social media corporations hoard less data about it's users than Chinese. I am not defending TikTok here, because I believe it's a danger, but this new bill is equivalent to treating the symptoms instead of the cause.
