I am building two major Open Source Projects using AI one of which i have already published https://srid68.github.io/Arshu.Assembler/ and another one will publish in two weeks time which is OCIServer. If you interested, we can collaborate. contact details in my profile. I am looking forward to implement the same abstractions/projects in other languages like clojure, lua, haskel, c, ocaml which will be very interesting.

Currently building a Declarative Web Assembler of Html/Json using AI in multiple languages for the past 1 month: https://github.com/Srid68/Arshu.Assembler deployed to fly.io

https://jsassembler.fly.dev/ https://csharpassembler.fly.dev/ https://goassembler.fly.dev/ https://rustassembler.fly.dev/ https://nodeassembler.fly.dev/ https://phpassembler.fly.dev/

The purpose is to find if can i build declarative software in multiple langauges (Rust, Go, Node.Js, PHP and Javascript) knowing only one language (C#) without understanding the implementation deeply.

Another purpose is validate AI models and their efficiency since development using AI is hard but highly productive and having a declarative rules to recreate the implementation may be used to validate models

Currently i am convinced it is possible to build, but now working on creating a solid foundation with tests of the two assembler engines, structure dumps, logging, logging outputs so that those can be used by the AI which it needs to fix issues iteratively.

Need to add more declarative rules and implement a full stack web assembler to see if AI will hit the technical debt which slows/stop progress. Only time will tell.

SEEKING FREELANCER | Singapore | Remote or Local

I would like to collaborate with anyone who is interested in the following topics like More Assembly Less Building for Creating Software Apps, More Declarative Less Imperative for Creating Software Apps, More Prototype UI vs Less Requirements Documentation. Portable vs Centralised/Decentralised Software, Multi-Platform with Common Abstraction vs Cross Platform, Design for the Forest (System) vs Design for the Trees (Individual Components).

I have been researching on abstractions which help me to assemble software UI and using it in my freelance web ui projects using more and more declarative and less and less imperative coding practices. Recently I think the abstractions are stable so I started creating a tool for assembling static and static data web UI which I have published as a web site https://gluuie.com and also in GitHub https://github.com/Arshu/AssembleWebApps.

Still a long way to go before you can truly assembly all types of UI like static, static data, dynamic, realtime and reactive UI, but the test pages which I have started building seems to show that this is possible, but still require more research

Anyway this helps in my freelance projects where I have build a VCard Management System,Warehouse Management System, Sales Order Management System and Print Label Management System all using backend as Microsoft Business Central to validate the abstractions.

Currently implement Git Integration and Importing of Data (Html/Json/Css/Js) Components using different CSS Framework like Tailwind, Bootstrap from Git Repositories to validate Parallel Assembly. Also spending time on extracting the assembler runtime to open source the Html/Json assembler.

I am 47 years old now and started to change my profession from Mechanical engineering to IT at the age of 29 years

As a failed entrepreneur in India i came to Singapore as a Mechanical engineer in 2006 and observed that IT was paying far better salary than mechanical and immediately went back to India after i had got my permanent residency for a 3 months study and came back and got a job in IT by telling my Hiring Manager to give me any salary for 3 months and if i am able to deliver give me good salary and was able to deliver.

Once i entered IT field i grew to senior project manager and spent too much time managing other developers and got hit by the start-up bug in 2008.

Unfortunately even though i was very technical, i did not have any programming experience and had to pick up everything by starting again.

If i can pick up again at 41 you can definitely pick up programming at 28.

The addictive part of programming is the problem solving aspect and the boring part is the actual writing (validation, idiot proofing, re-factoring) of good programs.

If you spend more time on the Problem solving aspects of programming, you will be able to learn more faster. Ex. Since you are working in construction, does your company require any useful information to be captured in a database using a website which they are currently doing in excel. Solve these types of problems and your skill will improve.

Find a problem to solve and solve it yourself by programming you will find it is faster and more interesting and you will persevere and ultimately succeed.

The problem gives you focus and solving the problem will give you skill.

It is very good you are attacking this problem, but is this the right way to attack the email problem?

According to Paul Graham frightening startup ideas http://www.paulgraham.com/ambitious.html, email is a bad ToDo list, How are you going to implement a better Todo list?

I have created a alpha prototype which attacks these problems conceptually, namely, Message Classification, Message Sharing, Bidirectional Messaging, Pull Messaging, Sender Revocation, Message Expiry, Centralized Attachment etc as a Mobile App but approached this as a separate todo protocol using the Push Messaging Infrastructure.

You can download the working app from Google Play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=priya.pullgrid... and can see a website created http://www.pullworld.com (Undocumented - You can download the Frontend App Html Source - Have not even shared in HN as Show HN because it is incomplete in documentation). The purpose of the Prototype is just as a proof of concept and not really to solve the email problem.

I would love to share my knowledge/architecture if you are interested, so that you can really attack this problem as envisaged by pg and since you are planning to do it open source and with email, would love to contribute if you are thinking of mobile in the future using Html/OpenGL based client.

I agree that we live in a very sad world, but your remark is also very sad that you believe forcing other people to your view is also correct same as a religious person. Not to Believe is as religious as someone believing in something, just like not to take a decision is also a decision.

Change has to come from within and cannot be forced because we believe it is right or wrong else we create resistance to change, which perpetuates the injustice which we want to remove.

Freedom and Slavery are one and the same thing, it is the level of restrictions which defines whether you are in a Slave environment or Free Environment and it is also complicated by the fact that one person's view of slavery/freedom is different from another person's view.

Avoiding to deal with it does not make the problem go away, it still exists and when intelligent people do this, it will still exist for ever.

It is never little people wrecking it for the rest of us, it is us, the little people wrecking for everyone in the name of dogmas without understanding the consequences of our own actions.

I am a Hindu Indian Singaporean, and i believe he is being made a scapegoat not for his actual prank, but as a deterrent to others to not do these type of things.

[dead] 13 years ago

He is being charged for Sedition which is 8 years in prison. The best thing for him is to escape and i believe even many malaysian muslims will help him to escape as long as he repents for his mistake. People are never cruel only institutions are cruel, because if they are not, they lose control and the consequences are far more than a simple prank.

[dead] 13 years ago

Singapore will also jail you if you did what he did, but in Singapore people know the consequences and generally don't fight the Government Rules. He is in Malaysia and the only way for him is to get out of the country which may be easier if you have the right connections.

It is a very sad state of affairs if pranks by intelligent kids are used against them not because of the actual prank but as a scapegoat so that others don't do this and it is also sad that intelligent people don't understand the consequences of their action and pranks are not worth 8 years in prison.

As for as I know BLE does not exist in Stock Android even though it is available in IPhone's first. It exists only in third party sdk's namely Samsung which i am planning to use. Hence may be once BLE is supported natively in Android SDK a lot of apps will support it.

I am building a Cross-Platform Hybrid Mobile API Runtime for packaging Html/C#/Lua Apps into Android/IOS, where the device functionality like Bluetooth, NFC, Push is accessible using Ajax Web Services. Unfortunately, Mobile Browser/WebView sucks in low end android phones, though it is good in IOS

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=arshu.appgrid....

To overcome the performance problem have to eliminate the browser with a OpenGL Renderer which can render GUI generated using HTML, which i have started building, but still a long way to go.

Yes it is possible as long as you can overcome the initial difficulties and please don't quit your Job or take unnecessary risk.

I was 29 years old when i changed from Mechanical Engineer to Software Engineer after just a 3 months study of programming in C in Singapore after I had emigrated to Singapore.

I was 43 years (2 years back) old when i decided to create my own product based company and decided to do the full coding for it individually (Foolishly) without any major experience in product development (I had enormous knowledge of what to do as a Senior Project Manager, less knowledge on how to do and did not have much practice in doing it (Programming))

Programming is hard but it gives you unlimited happiness once you overcome the initial frustrations. If you want to experience the joy of building something with your own hands as well as the sorrow of failure because it is not working as you expect, just go to a beach and build a Sand Castle near the water. You will experience the Joy of completing your Sand Castle and the sorrow of destruction of the Sand Castle by the water and the ultimate satisfaction of protecting your Sand Castle from the Vagaries of Nature.

The Joy of Programming comes from the Problem Solving aspects of Master Building (Planning, Designing, Tuning) and the pain comes from the Brick laying (Typing, Debugging, Testing) of the Implementation. Unfortunately Brick laying is an Ocean littered with multiple languages, frameworks, ides etc. Hence if you have an Objective to your learning Programming, you will easily overcome the initial difficulty in learning programming. Eg. The objective for your case can be create a website/mobile app to sell or display something. From this objective, you can measure your progress as well as choose appropriate multiple languages to master to achieve your objectives.

They could have made the bank bond holders (rich foreign banks) take losses without affecting the normal depositors.

How can you think getting a bigger loan to pay current loan is a good strategy. It will work only if the economy improves. If the economy tanks, it is not going to work. It is only going to increase the losses for the lenders ultimately.

My perspective on this debate is both client-side and server-side with only a backend API layer is required. The problem with most Js MVC frameworks are they enforce/make it easy to do client side rendering, but make it difficult/impossible to integrate server-side.

I have found that increasing the DOM element count leads to poor performance, hence too much view template loaded initially leads to unnecessary slowness. To mitigate this i started dynamic loading of view templates from the server, which lead to two different calls to the server, one to retrieve the json data and the other to retrieve the view template which makes some sense in certain use cases and sometime merging the data with the template makes it more performant and some case retrieving the template and data in a single call, but without merging is optimum. It all depends on the functionality required.

When you work in Old Android (Browser/WebView) devices, you will observe that using client side rendering and loading too much in the DOM leads to poor performance and it is better to render it on the server side and just use plain JavaScript to inject the rendered view to DOM, which leads to optimum performance.

Let us not declare client side rendering as the winner prematurely.

Client Devices are powerful, but they are constrained by the Client Browser/Javascript Language where as Server side rendering are constrained only by the Operating System with the flexibility to use many language.

If the same view is going to be rendered to multiple clients, it makes sense to create it in the server once and send to each client rather than cache the data in the server only and render it every time in the Client? It will improve the performance of the client.

The ideal approach will be to have both client and server side rendering and take a decision based on the requirements rather than be constrained to only client side or server side.

Unfortunately the mainstream view is using client side rendering

Good solutions are not only got from good problem definition, but also on the constraints imposed on the solutions. My constraints for my solutions, were separation of concerns (MVC/MVVM), and separation of skills (Conceptualizer/Designers/Developer/Mobile Native Developer) leading to the same conclusion as said in the article.

I wanted my back end server (Need to run in Android/IOS/Shared Host/ to be purely API driven (REST/RPC) and my views templates to be mustache only and wanted to have the flexibility to merge the model to the view template in both the client as well as the server. As I spent more and more time on this architecture, i completely used server merging of models with type safe generated view template generated from plain html based mustache templates.

As my dependency on Javascript reduced, i was amazed to discover that my performance started improving, I can independently regression test the API back end automatically by just capturing inputs/outputs to the API and I can think about the functionality independent of the UI.

My belief is any architecture which gives both client side rendering as well as server side rendering using a Web API (REST/RPC) approach may be the ideal architecture as long as the view templates can be reused. This means we can mix in the same application, both client side as well as server side rendering.

This is the approach i have taken to develop a cross-platform solution which works in Mobile/Server/PC environments using both Browser/WebView as well as OpenGL View rendering of UI.
