Most of my pants would fit little more than a few bills or a single credit card, so my phone often lives in my purse. My watch, however, is something that's always on me, and now that it's a Pebble, I get the added benefit of having the important messages from my phone alert me as well.

I read that the Sony SmartWatch also supports NFC. It would be interesting to see if a standalone smartwatch app could support NFC building entry (like a replacement for your company badge). It'd be a much nicer form factor and I'd be significantly less likely to forget it at home or at my desk.

Though it's worth noting, with August and Lockitron keyless entry systems being shipped this year, I wonder if the same can't also be accomplished with the existing BLE implementation by Pebble/others

I like your interpretation. If for no other reason, it would seem to back up the idea that the OP is merely bad with words and was in fact describing the current composition of his team (a team diverse in gender, ethnicities, levels of experience, etc)

As a female developer, I wasn't terribly offended by line item #8 (regardless of whether it was intended to imply diversity or it was a joke in questionable taste), but I did find it strange that female seemed to equate to "junior" developer in this context. Did I read that wrong?

I think the author of this article makes a compelling argument for why building a recommendation engine is not an efficient strategy in creating an MVP. I've been working on an e-commerce startup for over a year now (eep!) and after spending countless hours arguing over this exact prioritization with my co-founder, I had to finally call it quits, because we just never got anywhere. Recommendation engines sound sexier when pitching ideas, but at the end of the day, how do you pitch a product that doesn't exist to customers that only exist in theory?
