https://fishtail.ai | REMOTE | Full-time | backend/frontend/full stack eng + product folks

We are a super un-sexy, VC-backed, revenue-generating, Trade Finance automation company (think Pipe for the real world) that's bringing the the $10tn Trade Finance space in to the 21st century.

The problem we're solving

When Walmart gives La Croix a $100k order for seltzer, not only does Walmart not pay after receiving goods for 3-4 months but La Croix has to cover the cost of actually making their goods for a bunch of time (months). As a small business, this sucks hard. Fishtail will lend to La Croix when they get an order from Walmart so they can satisfy demand without tying up huge amounts of working capital. Usually banks will lend to folks only when the product makes it to Walmart (and only to large companies, who don't traditionally need $) -- the net effect of Fishtail is that we lend earlier in the chain to smaller businesses (which is a super duper hard problem).

Tech stack

Our web stack is react/nodejs/graphql -- with some extra public REST apis (all typescript) - data stack is python/pytorch + spark. We get a boatload of data tracking every vessel in the water/every plane in the sky (among other datasets like every trade transaction that has happened over the past N years).

Fun fact

We have a sustainability-linked trade finance product where we can tie the interest rate of our loans to the sustainability of the individual shipment (i.e. the greener the shipment, the better your interest rate) -- this is super nifty when you consider that transportation is responsible for ~30% of the world's green house gas emissions and there's really no good way to identify the best option to get from A to B.

What we need

We're looking for support taking our product to the next level on two main fronts: product + engineering. This is a very very complicated problem space (both from a concept + infrastructure perspective) and we need some crazy people to help us define what needs to be built + actually build it.

Reach out to hiring@fishtail.ai if you want to help small businesses win while saving the planet with us (sr. full stack web eng posting on angellist is here if easier -> https://angel.co/l/2yanqJ)

When P&G ships to Walmart, P&G doesn't get paid for 3-6 months -- Fishtail pays P&G the minute they close the doors of their shipping container with an interest rate that's tied to the sustainability of the individual shipment (i.e. the greener the shipment, the better your interest rate). ODYN is modernizing the world of logistics. We provide visualization and analytics of the movement of goods in the global supply chain by analyzing data streams from container vessels, airplanes, and our proprietary tracking devices. Our technology gives our customers x-ray like visibility into global logistics and enables significant reduction in operating capital (read: saves a lot of money).

This is one of the few massive industries ($4T) left that are left to be digitized and completely optimized with technology. We have some funding, customers, interesting strategic partners, and are growing fairly quickly.

We help large manufacturers optimize their in-transit inventory, leading to a decreased working capital spend and increased customer service level. We do this by tracking and analyzing the movement of shipments around the world using our low-cost pallet tracking devices ($5) and predictive logistics intelligence suite. Long story short, we help large companies like Proctor & Gamble move their supply chain.

     = What we do =
     **************
We're helping shippers make the right logistics decisions at the right times by tracking pallets and running analysis on the global supply chain to figure out what the hell is going on. (Think Skynet for Logistics if we gave skynet a finger to touch every shipment in the world and we didn't try to kill everybody).

This is one of the few massive industries ($4T) left that are left to be digitized and completely optimized with technolgy.

We have some funding, customers, interesting strategic partners, and are growing fairly quickly.

Come solve hard problems with us.
