Bubble: The best way to build web apps without code

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak suggested adult smokers trying to quit would still have access to alternatives like vapes under the proposals

How does this work? So I have to talk to a doctor to get my Bubblegum Ice disposable?

Any aggregator will be successful since people don't want to manually search for news & trends. The real trick is aggregating the aggregators. That's still a hard problem.

I find DuckDuckGo's[0] (DDG) images feature to be a brilliant replacement for Google Images/Lens. Google Images doesn't let you view the actual resource anymore and disabled that feature years ago. DDG's image feature is crucial since it doesn't bring you to the site itself, it just points to the raw URL of where the asset resides and you can easily download it, without hunting the graphics down on the site itself, although DDG does offer a link to the page where the image was found. The important bit is pressing the 'View File' button.

JS is an embellishment. Think of an electric stairs, it still works even with no power. I do all my sites like this. It must work without JS, because some users disable JS for privacy or accessibility reasons, and I care about those users.

Even without Tor, HN temporarily and randomly shadowbans your first post. It stops a bunch of newbs being able to spam /newest

Same here. I even read HN before I read my local news sites in the morning, pre-coffee. Typically I hunt for game-changing news that affects our entire industry, or some tooling which I can leverage. Everything else is just noise.

Seems like the "Spectre secret" is a massive risk given that compromising it once without detection would compromise EVERY PASSSWORD THAT USER USES, even ones that didn't exist when the secret was stolen.

All password managers have a single point of failure: the master password. This is why 2FA is crucial. Spectre/Master Password doesn't have 2FA, but you can turn it on with all the accounts you have so there is at least that.

You won’t be able to create new accounts

On what criteria? IP address? User-agent? Easily spoofed.

Getting a burner SIM is tricky depending on where you live (Mandatory KYC is required in some countries)

Thanks for allowing us to serve you for 24 years. The time has come to say goodbye. We will miss you. Keep building amazing things!

OG hosting service. RIP MT. I remember a few sites putting 'hosted by MT' in the footer as a sort of badge of honor, sans affiliate links and all, people just wanted to show their love of the service. I never had an account with them, and found them quite expensive.

But I imagine that extra money paid for top quality support, which the web hosting space is sorely lacking. 'Just let me talk to a human'.

Some context, this has been in the works for over a year:

I push past my dissatisfaction because the better jobs don’t pay.

A 'better job' is not necessarily a high-paying job. Many people opt for lower commute time yet choose a lesser paying job, if it means they don't spend 1-2 hours commuting. Also if you're lucky, you live where you work, and have plenty of amenities available (Gym, Shopping Center etc).

Also you could need a side-project / hobby project you work on that is either related to tech or not related (wood working etc). Many people scratch their own itch on hobby projects even if they're not paid to do it (they just enjoy doing it).

maybe it’s some software I install on my local network that intercepts traffic and helps the robot keep running none-the-wiser that it’s not actually phoning home anymore

Yeah all my IoT devices connect to my pi-hole[0] and I manually disable connecting to various hosts. If there was some pre-made IoT filter list that would be great and would save me from manually disabling all the phoning home.

Good article on the subject: https://theconversation.com/dont-feed-the-trolls-really-is-g...

Ignore the Keyboard Warriors[0] and move on with your day.

[0] https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Keyboard%20W...

1. A Person who, being unable to express his anger through physical violence (owning to their physical weakness, lack of bravery and/or conviction in real life), instead manifests said emotions through the text-based medium of the internet, usually in the form of aggressive writing that the Keyboard Warrior would not (for reasons previously mentioned) be able to give form to in real life.
