I wonder what he could have accomplished with the resources we have today. He was so far ahead of his time and accomplished so much - I wonder how he managed to find time for everything. We owe him a lot.

If only BB would create a phone with a keyboard and touch screen, they would really have a killer phone. I love the Palm Pre hardware, but am not sure I want to jump OS's yet.

Ok, it may not be a perfect, or even a close to perfect parallel, but it does get the point across. I for one am guilty of spending way to much time running around doing stuff instead of stopping and spending time processing what really matters. A mental "defrag" if you will.

I disagree with this. While the design of the a macbook is nicer than any other laptop I can think of, I had to replace the motherboard, optical drive, wrist rest, LCD panel, trackpad, and webcam before it was three years old. Granted I did use it extensively, but I don't think that my usage would have destroyed a Dell latitude or Lenovo Thinkpad any quicker. In fact, I am expecting my current Dell E6500 to last longer than may macbook did.

They pay about $2.50 per CPU at 100% per month. A fraction of the cost of electricity, but lucrative for Digsby.

Could someone explain why you would want to retweet? I am not a regular user of twitter, but it would seem to me that retweeting just adds to the noise. Aren't you supposed to tweet original stuff, or is it all about trying to get a topic to trend?

This place is beautiful, I love people who aren't afraid to be practical, even when it isn't popular. The view overlooking the trees must be breath taking. I'd love to visit the place.

I wonder if you would end up with tax issues when doing this? As a US citizen would I pay tax abroad, or in the US, how difficult would it be to get the requisite visa, and most importantly, how many idea spots have fiber internet?

Basically what they are proposing is the system of education currently in use in Germany. Once you hit high school you have the choice of preparing for a white or blue collar job. Blue collar jobs gets you out of school and into an apprenticeship at 15 or 16, white collar gets you into high school, or further education at least.

Seems to work quite well.

I don't think that would be an issue, as it should be scaled to the traffic it receives. I could be wrong though.

That would be great if they actually come up with smart receptacles that transmit power usage to your phone. I think that would be an effective way to cut down on power usage - if the receptacles themselves didn't consume too much power...

I like pie charts, possibly because i like pie. True they may not be a very accurate representation of a large number of variables, but for a quick overview of a couple figures it works pretty good.

As to the DRM on Kindle, it has bee known, but I don't think their ability and willingness to delete a "legitimately" purchased book remotely has been until this incident. Isn't this the first time that a book has been deleted over the air?

You're young, so you might make it; but realistically, to really make it, IT is a full time job. Business clients are where the steady money is at, and you need to be on call basically 24/7 or at least 9-5 every day. YMMV, but it can't hurt to try.

I don't think that this is an issue of not backing up. The student bought what he supposed to be a legit copy of a book, than amazon remotely deleted it, along with his notes. There should be a mechanism to backup notes, separate from the book associated with them, but i don't believe there is one. Correct me if I'm wrong.

This should go up dramatically once Microsoft adds firefox to it's list of browsers included in its OS.

I guess technically, the downloads won't go up, but usage almost certainly will.

As a book collector, I love print editions of books, but digital books are inevitably going to become more prevelent. And while I don't think paper books will be going away any time soon, ebooks will take their toll on bookstores.

Just as digital music (arguably) has not hurt record sales, it has (again arguably) had its toll on bricks and mortar music stores. It is a way of life, and love it or hate it, it is inevitable.

I go the rules route. I don't know that you can learn algebra any other way, can you? I mean, if you don't know the rules, how are you going to do the problem? I hated proofs, though that is more applicable to geometry.

It's also a great way to go to jail... I guess you could feasibly retire in jail.
