People have become so incredibly needy of others approval and attention that some of us don't even function properly when being alone.
This makes us incredibly week as well, totally dependent on others to feel good.
It's a good idea but it's adding manual work for the user.
I just block it all.
This is not true when you are writing code you haven't tried before. It's true for html, Css, devops stuff.
Or if you are trying to come up with an algorithm that is complex. Doing that in open office is impossible for me.
It's the largest downside with the job. I like programming at home but can't do it in an open office.
I switched to a job where I don't write complex code anymore. Now it's simpler, devops style things that can be done in noisy environments.
Call it Evasion OS. I think it's a cool name that has an "e" in it, and it's really about evading the massive data gathering going on.
Someone felt I was wrong when calling Google creepy the other day.
My mistake. Why would facial recognition connected with Google be creepy. It's... "convenient". So convenient....to have Google help you provide that feature... Yeah.

I understand and welcome more alternatives to Lineage but what's wrong with their user interface?
If you want to make a better Lineage, I think having built in default app stores like Apkpure, encrypted system proxies, isolating apps from each other in better ways... Aren't those more worthy privacy oriented things to work on?
I was using this but it didn't work well. They seem to have some performance issues when you search often, like 5 times in a minute and stuff like that.
Same here. No issues, works great.
I think people with a Google phone should just implant a chip in their arm, reporting to Google. It's basically the same thing, and you can view your body information on a Google dashboard and get Google advice on health care, along with a Google map to get there.
I guess it depends on how you view your phone. Is it your phone or is it Googles phone that they can update with whatever software and settings they want to.
The same debate is around Windows 10. Some people are fine with Microsoft getting a stream of privacy data from them. Others feel it's their device, not Microsofts.
People who weren't there don't know, and this is why they don't care either.
It's exactly the same with Google, they have become the Microsoft from before, being bad guys.
Slowly people are seeing it but they are not going to help by switching browsers it seems, so we are doomed to repeat this.
Staying grounded in current physics is not a good idea. Humans are primitive and other civilizations capable of traveling the solar system is not.

I use it because the web becomes usable and fast again, and also because I don't want ad companies making money from my activity and privacy.

The real answer is "because America". People in high places want to get rich, so they will make sure to lobby for laws and regulations so they can profit incredibly well from normal people.
I don't think there is any other country where capitalism has taken over so completely, and the people are not rebelling - but cheering - for America to continue.
We may not like it but yes, age matters for culture fit. I prefer people saying so instead of giving me bullshit reasons.

Just saying there is a lot of bad culture fits. It can be age, gender, race, personality and even appearance. Bad culture fit is everywhere. It's just not something we talk about very openly because it's not socially accepted. So we hide it under other reasons.
I think they are actually. It used to require skill to be a programmer in the old days. You knew one language very well. Today you know hundreds of small things on medium level and you can Google anything. It's quite easy to write code in any text editor, they are all filled with colorful fonts, intellisense, plugins etc.
It's good for younger audience. Myself, I just want the facts without the corny attempts at humor too.
I also warn kids about not following men giving them candy.
To me it's obvious, to others it's not. Just look at Google usage. They are absolutely creepy.
Use Google in a temporary container (Firefox plugin) and isolate Google completely if you need to use them.
Also you can use startpage.com for searches, it uses Google behind the scenes. Looks nicer too. :)
The Temporary Containers plugin is very nice. It can be configured to keep all tabs completely isolated, as if they were their own browser.
And you can set it to isolate subdomains or not, which is very useful when you need multiple tabs and want the same session in them.
The best strategy is to not use Google however. It's not like you need to in 2018 anymore. There are better services for almost anything out there, although you may have to pay a few dollars for some of them.
Well worth it since they are superior to Google. For email, Fastmail is king.
Personally I think auto login should be opt in and never a default or requirement.
Specially when it's Google. They are super creepy and facilitators of a future where users have zero privacy but don't have the intelligence to care about it.

Google fundamentally doesn't respect user privacy, and people should use Firefox.
This has been true for a many years now but I still see tech people ignoring it completely.
I no longer believe tech people are very intelligent. They are easily lured into whatever good looking tech comes along and will sacrifice their privacy at the drop of a hat.
