Why should an organization support something they own when most people abandoned a platform and had years to archive and move elsewhere?

Content is a garden, you plant a seed. If the land is barren why would you not move your seeds and seedlings elsewhere?

Ethically it’s wrong and it’s a violation of the trust put into IT workers. It wasn’t a judgement call it was a personal choice.

Personally, I know at least a few people who do not have a Facebook account at all, but they do have a LinkedIn, because that’s where the jobs are.

I’m one of those. I’m on linked in because that’s where I can connect with others in my industry. I don’t care what they do for vacation or their political views but I am interested in their take on issues we’re mutually encountering.

I’m also not looking for work for me but I’m on the lookout for talented folks and former members of my team. If they need a role or if something sounds like them, I can link them up

It’s normal in a lot of companies. I typically have my bosses and my team lead’s calendar up throughout the day. Helps to fill in the gaps and get a feel for questions I’ll ask later

A public calendar is public. No different than how my Outlook calendar is setup organizationally. If you want items to be private, mark them as private. Otherwise if someone setup a blanket alert in my calendar, they’ll get alerted for what I want made public.

I still have problems with DDG. I can usually find what I need within 1-2 pages on Google. With DDG sometimes it’s further in.

There are other options, not all require college. The world needs tradesmen/women. Some of their pay is on par with my data scientists.

I also have a few on staff who do not have a degree but perform solid work and manage the same tasks as my degreed team members. There are options with college or military.

It's a sacrifice. I love art and music and spent many years pursuing both. I'm an old man now and many friends spent years seeking that out and unable to ensure their own survival years later.

Pick a major which ensures your financial survival. Spending 100k on a degree which cannot ensure survival is a hell of a way to learn that lesson.
