This is a naive question but I've always wondered, what motivates people who distribute pirated content for free?

I get why someone would consume pirated content but why would someone take the risk of publishing pirated content? Is it the ad traffic that the publishers get?

A little off track rant but the tax and health policies of USA are super freaking unbelievable. Why on Earth can one not be eligible for a HSA when they don't have a HDHP? The healthcare is screwed up. The least you could let people do is use their pre tax monies for the health treatments.

Is there a reason they don't run child exploitation detection ML engine (PhotoDNA) on the media they index? I'd guess they already run an ML engine to "describe" a image while they index it and this additional step shouldn't be too expensive?

Wouldn't Windows 10 IoT on a raspberry pi hooked up to the internet work as an efficient replacement instead of the $2M? AFAIK, Windows claims to handle all the security things for you so a student developer making this project doesn't have to.

Damn. I just realized that. Signing out of browser signs you out of GMail. And signing into GMail signs you into the browser. Went to download Edge but turns out it's not on Win Server. MSFT really needs to get its act together.

Am I wrong in seeing merit in the argument for blocking people/entities from re-posting copyrighted content and simultaneously holding the platforms accountable? Of course, they should exempt businesses valued below a fair figure like $50M so as to not bother startups with compliance expenses.
