I found out my supervisor had about a ~10th grade reading level in English. Needless to say, I wasted a few years on my program before I switched advisors. Finished in less than a month with someone with an appropriate level of reading skill. So disgusted, I left the industry.

If you need to heat things, this seems to be the way to go. And heating accounts for nearly half of global energy demand and is still mostly fossil-fueled (paraphrasing). This means that this puts a big dent in the need for fossil fuel to generate energy. And all without depending on Chinese materials. Note that this is in the very early stages of development; In software development terms, this appears to be in the "alpha" stage.

Strange that the article doesn't mention the possibility of "drone hunter" drones. They don't even need to be very complicated, at least the drones could just grapple the enemy drone(s) to bring it down. Otherwise, they could use a net. They sound cheaper than the explosive ones, and there's a skills overlap with drone pilots that the military would want to train and employ anyway.

Good, they almost got one of the big reasons no one has said "quiet out loud" yet: security. Can't have confidence to have kids in an uncertain world.
Also, a kid kind of eats up that second income needed to hedge against uncertainty, so why push for one?
