Everyone worried about privacy - not sure if they realize everyone is already collecting this type of information anyway?

I think this is cool and probably the future of B2B websites. My holdup would be, if the buyer enters their company and the copy just changes into what we think they want, are they going to lose trust that the copy is a true representation of our focus? Maybe it's a framing problem, lots of websites have "solutions" sections for different industries. Potentially could be cool to have a "how we can specifically help {your company}" with an exact use case outline.

Needs some UI work but this is a really great idea. Hope it gains traction

Scrolling lerp is the easiest way to ruin your website

The worse thing to happen to GH? Really?

Using git on the command line can be hard to learn and unintuitive for people - the desktop client makes things easier and that's a good thing (kind of like how the GUI made computers accessible to more people and ended up benefiting everyone in software...)

This type of thing is great for people who hire or run companies - the more other organizations focus on meaningless things the more great people are available if you can find them!

Maybe the software engineers are worried they're being made redundant, but it is super fair for them to not allow their own work to make them redundant without permission

$2 cpm (https://www.ethicalads.io/publishers/faq/#how-much-will-i-ma...) is not higher than adsense, especially for a high value audience like US developers. We were seeing ~$5-$8 cpms on adsense for a much less affluent demographic on our site.

Totally support this and am rooting for alternative ad networks - especially ones like this. However I think it's fair to acknowledge that without tracking it's inevitable that you'll have less value to provide to advertisers. We can't have our cake and eat it too.

It's pretty crazy how much of these edits are low quality, false, or just vandalism. Very impressive how the organization has been able to maintain such high quality information despite the general public.

Customers shouldn't have to bother random employees to get support on critical issues. In general I think Stripe does a pretty good job with support compared to other big tech firms - the inability to reach humans is problem endemic throughout the industry.

It's a shame because a good customer support interaction can create a serious evangelist (hard to quantify but extremely valuable). Maybe Stripe knows this because they put a lot of effort into appeasing the HN community (many developers/entrepreneurs who make processor purchasing decisions). I wish they'd apply this attitude to all their customers.

I've never had an experience with an agency that was better than hiring individuals. You end up paying a 20% markup + dealing with organizational headaches in exchange for skipping the pain of finding and vetting individuals with the right skillsets.

The initial shortcut ends up creating way more problems down the road.

How much longer are we just going to keep eating up whatever the Stripe PR machine churns out? They did a great job with payments but a lot of their auxiliary products are just worse versions of other businesses.

I don't think I'll give up the macbook trackpad for anything. It's probably more important to my quality of life than the blue imessage bubbles.
