Geotagging is something that tends to be on by default, and lots of people aren't aware they can shut it off. (or that it's happening in the first place)

I think that's what they're saying: those two have been around for ages and they're still seen as sketchy, so the newer, weirder ones are even more off-putting by comparison.
In this case, they're quoting the wording in the released report.
That's not a counterpoint, that's a paragraph of unintelligible, angry spittle.
To clarify, I think the parent was using -- as a poor-man's emdash in this case.
It happened when their primary career performance metric became convictions.
No doubt this will be reinstated in a few days after the devs file their counterclaim. IANAL, but there's no DMCA violation in the code itself. Even though the DMCA claim was spurious, GitHub did was they were obligated to do by taking it down for now.
No part of the music being performed is reproduced in a photograph.
You certainly don't lose copyright protection of a photo you took because you were told not to do so. You just risk being thrown out of the venue or other legal trouble.
In the spirit of keeping this in good taste, i'll try to phrase this nicely:
TIOBE isn't great, but at least you know what their algorithm is, and it is certainly not worth implying you would normally _not_ be nice to someone for referencing it.
There is no right to not be confronted with difficult ideas.
Just so that no one else makes the same mistake I did, you also need an iPhone4S or newer for this to work.
It would be nice if on the site there was a mention about phone compatibility along with computer compatibility, since if you just check the site and then download the iPhone app from the search results page in the App Store without clicking through to the app description, you don't see the compatibility warning.
It's my own dumb fault, but it wouldn't hurt if it was a little more obvious.
Except he apologised for causing hurt, he didn't apologise that people felt hurt. There's a difference in the level of responsibility taken for the action.
How is that not saying he's sorry he hurt people? I don't understand what you are having a problem with.
Because money is a means to an end for people to live. Trading away a life to save a few dollars is missing the point.
