Slightly related: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqgMIRF7acw. On a more serious note it will be interesting to see if it works considering France has been thinking of scrapping the 35 hour work week.

In Finland you can buy these: http://pöllöt.fi
Some phones used to have infrared receivers and they sucked. The bandwith was awful and establishing a connection required multiple attempts at keeping the phones steadily next to each others with the receivers/emitters facing each other. Even the camera is way better than that. Bluetooth or nfc might be more promising though.
Since the lock will probably be in motion when not not in use, couldn't you just use some kind of kinetic charging mechanism to charge the battery? Is kinetic charging not enough powerful? Or is the circuitry too complex?
Not a very credible source seeing that onstartups.com is run by a co-founder of Hubspot, which is starting to become a rather big company.
Nice idea, but I don't really like the in-call style header visible everywhere. I believe there is no way to make it work without it without jailbreaking?
This seems to use it
I'd add j/k keyboard shortcuts and the ability to view comments within the app. Otherwise great work!
I'm from Finland, from what I have heard and seen about the government funding companies is that they usually fund companies with a clear plan and with founders with a lot of experience in their field (that is have worked their whole life in the field/phds).
We will be using Paymill for our upcoming project. We haven't yet gone live, but the api was very easy to use and it seems to work very well. One downside for us is that they only accept Visas and Mastercards.
Has nothing to do with kim but just want to point out that I personally would describe this as sensationalist.
Yes sure, but it could be fixed if you added a few hints in the app.
It seems to be us only :(
ok, without your website I wouldn't have figured out how to clear the canvas and while trying I only found out how to save the picture. I actually went back to the website to figure it out. Another thing i couldn't find is an eraser. If you screw up a tiny detail you have to start over. But I like the concept of quick ideas scribbled on anything you can get your hands on.
It's because of fire safety codes. When doors open outwards it is easier to evacuate the building of panicking people
I'm sorry i misremembered it was drivesql.com. If you want it just pm me here, i assume it's possible or on twitter @kekeblom.

Paying 50$ a month for unlimited 3G is just outrageous. Here in Finland you get half a mb a second starting at 5€ a month. The fastest plans go at 15-20€ a month or something like that.
From the tax money they would pay only a very little part would go towards their community and employees. Most of it would be wasted on a lot of nonsense. If their goal was to make the world a better place it would be a lot more efficient to take the matter in their own hands and use their money directly on stuff they think should work better. States and governments are hugely inefficient.
Keep in mind that if you crawl this site your ip will be banned. At least mine was when I was playing around with a web crawler i built.
If you think about it, the fact that facebook has so many users makes it quite cool. Practically everyone I know is on facebook. Though I do see the appeal of a private university network it would eventually end because the people running it would want to make more money. Also adoption to a new more exclusive network wouldn't be as fast since we already have facebook.
You swipe to the right or press the upper left hand button to reveal the menu.
FYI the text is very hard to read on a 13" mac and chrome. http://imgur.com/fsbj9.jpg
That's a good start and i like the UI. I had some issues on the iPad 2 where transitions weren't really smooth but kind of laggy. The comments could be better arranged (some kind of tree were not only the top-level comments are different). Ashamedlion does have a point about the weird colours and the few refinements. Still the best hacker news app i have tried and will be looking forward for updates. Keep up the good work!
What's the max resolution on the gpu?
Coudn't you get wifi via usb?
Made a donation as a thank you for making my zte blade usable till I can afford an upgrade. Hope they keep up the good work.
