Google and AMZN on the phone: You going RTO? Yeah, sure totally going RTO. ANZN announces RTO. Google poaches all AMZN talent that leaves. Google goes RTO a year later.

Remember 10x? "Are you a 10x developer?!" lol
1) yes 2) yes, the experience from the job I was laid off from helped me get a new job. 3) not at all
While scholars, podcasters, YouTubers, and music fans have worked to decipher vaporwave's sounds and images
Is vaporwave a lost ancient civilization?
I don't do a lot of bash scripting but is this common? Using sudo in a script? Seems weird to me. If the process needs root just run the script as root right?
Spend time thinking about times you got criticized but instead of trying to justify, explain, rationalize or just ignore it turn toward it and just accept it. Relax and just let all the thoughts (and more importantly) feelings run over you. Don't resist and don't turn away. Just let all those feelings out. Our thoughts and feelings create an imaginary world that most of us live in in our waking life but that's all it is; thoughts and feelings. Its subjective, transient and temporary. When you can just indifferently witness you'll see how temporary and subjective (and silly) it all is. This removes the person. You (the person) is the one that reacts, reaches and resist the thoughts and feelings. Stop that and the person disappears. It's hard at first because you have to sit through all the uncomfortable feelings. It is worth it though.
Make a connection with yourself. Rather than looking outward, look inward. Open up to and fully experience all you thoughts and feelings. Open up especially to your 'bad' memories, thoughts and feelings. What is so bad about it? Maybe I only dislike them because I am not use to those feelings. I know there are things in the past that I thought were rally bad but I don't feel that way anymore. How do I know that the 'bad' I'm feelings now wont turn out to be the same? Is there anything that isn't temporary? Is there anything that isn't subjective?
the intro music, it has a circular feel to it. who can tell me about this? why is it used when it's used?
We all live in our own world of the mind. Everything is subjective. The thoughts and memories that we struggle with are not the issue believe it or not. What traps us is our fear of uncomfortable feelings. You don't need to run from or reject these feelings though. Try being open and accepting. Explore your own conditioning and feelings. It can't hurt you but if you 100% accept your feelings you are free. When you feel something uncomfortable try just sitting as still, quiet and relaxed and just let it happen. See if you can find what it is about it that is bad or should be rejected. I think you'll find that it's not inherently bad at all. It's just a different feeling. If you don't run from your feelings and you accept them the thoughts and feelings that brought them up become irrelevant because, after all, this is 100% subjective. Nothing "matters". Nothings is "important". You don't "need" anything. Our conditioning tells us we need things and the uncomfortable feelings enforce that believe. Free yourself by doing ... nothing. Just accept it as it is :)

A Confederacy of Dunces
Same here. I love watching them. They are very entertaining but don't care if his theme is sensible or not.
Sit still and let all your thoughts play out. Let all the remorse and sorry out. Be completely open and accepting of all your feelings. Let them out. We don't struggle with ideas, we struggle with our own feelings but they are just feelings. They can't hurt you. Quite the contrary actually. Your feelings are _you_ and they are a wonderful part of the experience. Open up to your feelings. Accept them and be free. :)
I've been using Roxterm with AwesomeWM. I don't like borders, tabs or menus on my terminal. I just want it to pop up with a key combo (Meta Enter) and disappear with a Ctl-d. Bang bang. I bounced around for a bit and settled here. I can't recall all the details but Roxterm just seemed to be the one I could config to my liking on AwesomeWM. Arch moved it to the AUR a few years ago. I guess it's fallen out of favor for some reason.
We have a memory, but "the past" doesn't exist in it's own right. It's just thoughts and images we are experiencing now, in this moment.
I just watched his vid the other day on Big Think; very interesting for sure! I can see how that would apply here too.
Past and future is a trick our mind plays on us. We collect past and future "moments" and believe them to have reality. As we collect these moments the illusion of a timeline emerges. Notice when your body tenses and or emotions and feelings trigger when you are just having thoughts about the past or the future. Why react to thoughts? The mind uses uncomfortable feelings to keep our attention. To break free you just have to sit with all the feelings and accept. Now is all there is.
Get a "blood boy" ;)
Take time off. As much as you can. Better yet, if you aren't excited about this job anyway just tell them you are taking a month or 6 weeks or more off. When you come back you can better decide what to do (leave, stay, change path etc).
And what is it exactly that is so uncomfortable? Is it the idea of failure or is it the feeling itself? What if you got comfortable with all your uncomfortable feelings? When we were growing up we got use to all kinds of new, uncomfortable feelings. Why not keep doing that? Let the feelings happen, get use to them. You might find yourself freed from a prison you didn't even realize you were in.
What if the believe and pursuit of "progress" is what got us into this mess?
Our true reality is consciousness and all it's activities. Open up to all of the experience instead of just little clusters of thoughts and feelings. It's amazing and wonderful.
Here are a couple of my attempts are non-dual. You are not an object in a outside world of objects. You are consciousness. You are the infinite field of knowing that allows all experience to be known (Rupert Spira). The objects are conceptual layers added by the mind. The mind sees a certain pattern of color and has learned that it is a chair. You cannot know the chair tho. You can only know the activity of consciousness that lie below the mind and it's concepts and you are that field of consciousness. There is no duality or multiplicity. There is only the one, the consciousness. There is a man in a bunker deep below the ground. There are wires coming in from above attached to telegraph machines. He interprets the telegraph messages and draws maps. He doesn't actually know anything about the outside world where these messages are supposedly coming from. He only knows the data and the maps he draws from it. You only know the raw conscious data; color, sound, thoughts, feelings, sensations, taste. Does a physical objects actually exist outside of you? Maybe, but we can't know for sure. We only know the simulation and the stuff the simulation is made of is consciousness. We are that consciousness. Until one takes this first step in self-realization they are still stuck in the conceptual world. That world is constructed purely of thought. Arguing in this space is futile. It's just thoughts and thoughts are changing all the time and different for everyone.
haha, this post was like 2 posts down from this one... ... A beginner's guide to intermittent fasting (2012) (jamesclear.com) ...
It's probably not "weird" anymore but "time restricted eating" works. Only consume calories in a defined window of time each day. Make sure that window is at most 8 hours. When outside the window do not consume any calories; no sugar or honey in your tea; no cream in your coffee. It does take some getting use to. Maybe start with 12 hour window, then 10 then 8 then even smaller if you like. Try it you'll be surprised.
I would suggest A Confederacy of Dunces in any year.
We are insignificant and meaningless. Just look at that data. We live on a planet that's billions of years old in a solar system that's probably even older. Currently each one of us is but one of almost 8 billion others currently alive right now. One day you will die with millions of others. Not long after that anyone that has a memory of you will die. You will be completely erased.
You can see that as depressing if you want. I see it a liberating. Accept your current experience for what it is. Not what your silly little mind thinks it _should_ be. When you do that there is no room for discontent, only happiness, peace and contentment. Live life for what it is; a beautiful dream.
I got into salsa dancing after I quit drinking.
I've just watched a few of his vids he links to on his site, very interesting. I just read https://www.bernardokastrup.com/2016/04/conquering-fear-of-o... so well put. I'll read Rationalist Spirituality. Thanks again. Fascinating.
I'll check this out. Thanks!
