My experience on large projects aligns with the overall sentiment of this article. Except

10. Breaking all the work down to the smallest details to arrive at a better estimate means you will deliver the project later than if you hadn’t done that.

For very large systems, demystifying whats ahead can be a huge time saver. If you march towards a near term milestone without knowing whats around the corner you run the risk of having to go backwards after the unknown unknowns surface.

The smallest of details may not be necessary but enough visibility to know you're headed down the right path is critical. None of this has anything to do with estimates.

max $1800/mo isn't much, but maybe helpful for some. https://edd.ca.gov/about_edd/coronavirus-2019.htm

If your employer has reduced your hours or shut down operations due to COVID-19, you can file an Unemployment Insurance (UI) claim. UI provides partial wage replacement benefit payments to workers who lose their job or have their hours reduced, through no fault of their own. Workers who are temporarily unemployed due to COVID-19 and expected to return to work with their employer within a few weeks are not required to actively seek work each week. However, they must remain able and available and ready to work during their unemployment for each week of benefits claimed and meet all other eligibility criteria. Eligible individuals can receive benefits that range from $40-$450 per week.

The Governor’s Executive Order waives the one-week unpaid waiting period, so you can collect UI benefits for the first week you are out of work. If you are eligible, the EDD processes and issues payments within a few weeks of receiving a claim.

If you want to do this without giving your data to any third party (plaid will store your data) or you have 2FA enabled on your FI accounts, try this: https://github.com/skhavari/cheddardog.

It supports a few institutions. If you're a developer, its pretty easy to add more. It generates spending and balance reports, and pretty easy to slap an app (E2E encrypted of course) or local only web UI on top of it.

Enjoy

Yes, they are very powerful and flexible. These frameworks actually payoff and simplify once your project grows beyond a particular size.

The Berkeley one is a bit slower and it has a statistics/probability refresher. I found it much easier to follow at 1.5x speed. I'd recommend the Udacity one if your stats/probability knowledge is fresh or if you're re-learning the topics.
