I feel the same way, but I’m not a traditional software engineer. Just an old-school Webmaster who’s been trying to keep up with things, but I’ve had to hire developers all along.
I’m an idea’s guy, and in the past month or so my eyes have also fully opened to what’s coming.
But there’s a big caveat. While the actual grunt work and development is going away, there’s no telling when the software engineering part is going to go away as well. Even the ideas guy part. What happens when a simple prompt from someone who doesn’t even know what they’re doing results in an app that you couldn’t have done as well with whatever software engineering skills you have?
The Elon hate is really creating a blind spot for many people here.
You can’t just compare Tesla to a meme stock when the founder’s side gig is launching and landing orbital rockets - a feat that even the most technologically advanced nation states have failed to accomplish.
Come on people, use a little critical thinking skills.
Waymo has not solved generalized autonomy. They need training wheels and HD maps for every city they expand into. You can't just put a Waymo into any city and expect it to drive autonomously.
Solving autonomy is the hardest technical challenge right now, way harder than creating a frontier LLM AI. Tesla has basically solved it. So to argue sarcastically about Tesla is in my opinion being ignorant. I get the Elon hate, but he is usually correct in his predictions, albeit late
Maybe we don’t have the same definition of what a nazi is, because Tommy Robinson is a huge Israeli schill, Elon musk is friends with Netanyahu, Jared kushner, and many other Zionists.
You realize that almost every politician has done a similar type of pose right? So if there’s a picture or a video of your favorite politician doing that pose you’re automatically going to assume they are Nazi?
Just a minimal knowledge of Musk‘s ties to Israel, and friendships with Netanyahu, Jared Kushner, and others you should realize that there’s no way he’s a Nazi or antisemitic. If anything, he is highly racist against Muslims.
True, we need to see the details of how they compute all this data. I do remember reading that they include crash data up to like a minute after FSD has been disengaged so these types of crashes should be included.
Nevertheless, the latest version of FSD I can certainly believe is seven times less likely to get into an accident than the average driver. I experienced it daily.
I’m kind of pointing out the hypocrisy in that if you’re not buying a Tesla because of Elon, then I’d hope you’re also boycotting all Israeli products, because you know, a little thing called a genocide is happening. If not, then I find it weird and I’m calling it out.
If that’s the case, then why does almost every US politician have an AIPAC handler? It’s obvious Israel is the one who controls our politicians, not the other way around.
C’mon stop being so naive. All the Middle East wars the US has fought has been for the benefit of Israel. Read project for a new American century. It laid out all the countries the US should take out for benefit of Israel. The only one we haven’t so far is Iran.
Yes. I know what you’re referring to, but you can’t ignore the pace of improvement. I think within 2-3 years we will have AI coding that can do anything a senior level coder can do.
Exactly! We’ve been seeing more and more posts like this, saying how AI will never take developer jobs or will never be as good as coders. I think it’s some sort of coping mechanism.
These posts are gonna look really silly in the not too distant future.
I get it, spending countless hours honing your craft and knowing that AI will soon make almost everything you learned useless is very scary.
