In my world, on my team - everything is a 3. and if its not a 3 lets figure out why. IE, lets have a fairly sized piece of work we scope for most tickets. If its bigger than that, lets discuss it, see if its worht breaking down (if its larger) and if not lets just agreee thats a larger piece than 3. that way we can just keep an eye on relative size of issues.

This. It isn't the Doctors responsibility to know all the prices of things and such, they should know what meds you need for your ailment. I would say it would be good if your doctor found out about something (via a pharmaceutical rep or another patient) to pass that along, but not sure it makes sense for them to necessarily know the ends and outs of the current best coupon.

lmao, big name AAA names saying, please dont rate us against this, they have 400 people and 7 years!

Then diablo4 credits almost 10k people in making it, and although a fun game, feels like its basically still in beta with all the basic features its missing.

they know for probably 75% of the country, imo what should happen:

they send a bill of the expected amount, and you do your taxes on your end (if you so choose) to make sure its correct. If wrong, you submit your taxes, and move on with life.

for the vast majority of people, you have a w2 or some other accounts that submit stuff to the IRS, and these same people mostly take standard deductions, its a simple computation.

The US likely wont do this, because they potentially miss out on income that honest peopel will report, when it hasn't been reported to them (for example cash tips / gambling winnings under W2G and things like that.

that doesn't matter, you have every bit of information from the board to in theory know every possible outcome. It's not like the opponent can't sneak an extra piece in behind your line. Or randomly turn your rook into their queen...

excessive risk? I mean one could argue that the MBS they bought were slightly risky, but its not like they bought a crap ton of crypto - or bought a bunch of high risk mortgage securities.

They got bit by interest rates, which they should have managed better, and the bank needs to go down, but dont bring down a huge amount of workers with it.

My guess ( I havn't looked at is the last ones ) is that the majority of deposits were well under 250k, and that hundreds of thousands of jobs weren't on the line.

Also, you are talking about a major banking collapse if people start thinking that their deposits aren't safe. (a lot of people will start pulling money, even if under 250k). There are so many irrational people out there...

edit: I guess somewhere in what I said was confusing, I was referring to past fails where most deposits were likely well under the 250k. NOT SVB where the vast majority were well above that threshold.

This actually makes a ton of sense, lets not forget that a bailout in this term is really pointing towards saving the bank itself, and its shareholders. There is inherent risk in equity investments, and it likely should have to suffer for its poor decisions.

But when it comes to depositors, I think it makes a lot of sense to make them whole, especially in the case of SVB where the bank likely has pretty close to enough assets to cover the liabilities (deposits), but its tied up in such long term investments that it could take a long time to get it out.

But moreso, when we invest in companies, we deep down know there is a possibility of the investment going to 0. We often don't think when I put money in a bank it can go belly up, this would obviously hurt the trust in our banking environment if depositors not made whole.

I think that there is misconceptions on what most people think as "bailouts". I think what a lot mean is that the usgov should just buy up all the deposit assets, and fund out the money, since its fairly certain that the assets are pretty close to deposits, but just wont mature for a long time, and in turn the bank is still dead, no more SVB.

A true, "bailout" would basically be that the bank survives, they are given moneys to make it through and then all the workers/deposits are screwed. ie. 2008
