I suppose a lack of testing and an assumption that the action will fail so rarely that it’s not worth accounting for? But yes, such patterns make it hard to trust and efficiently use an interface.

Hating AI Is Good 2 months ago

Even just in my family, the attitude has shifted significantly over the last year. Most of my family members are now critical of it and its effects.

Add to this that if ~6B people are using the internet (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Internet_usage), and ChatGPT only has almost a billion users (and is the largest player in the space), then I’d argue that LLM-users are in fact the minority.

I think this is the optimal outcome of the “Slop Police.” Normalization of these acknowledgements. Transparency is good, like a journalist declaring whether they have vested interests.

Yeah. Still daily driving my two 8-year old OG HomePods. Compared to e.g., Sonos, who discontinued the Play:1 after 5 years, that's pretty good.

Is HN particularly drawn to this over other platforms? I gotta say I don’t quite recognize this. In general, I think there’s a good dose of respect for science around these parts, but maybe I’m blind to it.

Yes, but the question is how it makes money, not whether it could make more money by expanding into other OS’s.

I don’t know that it should be a generation specific thing. I’m a millennial, and I like their look.

No one seems to want to answer your practical question. As I understand it, you receive an email with a payment link. When paid, your email is received by recipient.

I am unsure whether you could use e.g. Apple Pay to pay directly, or if you’d have to follow the microtransaction playbook to buy a greater amount of currency which you can spend.

Depends on the firmware of the device. Latest firmware (anything after version 5.18.5.01 - which released in October 2025) is currently not jailbreakable.

Jailbreak of any firmware after version 5.16.2.1.1 (June 2023) requires the Kindle to be connected and registered.

Anything prior to, and including this version, can be jailbroken with no registration.
