interesting, in germany model of the car, the expirience (age) of the driver and the years of not having your insurance cover something [1] play heavily into the amount of premiums you are paying. also who is "covered"[2] by that insurance and the km you drive in a year are considered.

[1] trivia: because of this sometimes people cover damages, even realtivly high ones, out of pocket because it saves them money in the long run. [2] you say who (only you or more people) is driving the car and in practice the relevant fact is if one of the drivers using the car is under 25 and/or is still in "Probezeit" (?trial period?)

Not hypocritic at all. From a legal perspective even illegal made money is money made and therefore subject of taxation. Tecnically you even have to describe the means by that you have come to it. Otherwise you are commiting tax evasion. For example if you sell 100k worth of access to documented child abuse, you have to pay taxes on those 100k. Thats why you have to launder money made from illegal activities

Edit: to add value to the conversation: in germany I find googles estimates on long car trips quite accurate. And I'm actually a very erratic driver, sometimes taking every hole in traffic I can to get ahead, just slowing down to speed limit+20km/h where there is a speed trap, sometimes just cruising 80km/h on open autobahn getting overtaken by cargo trucks

Merkel was reelected because there was no feasible Alternative. She is a good politican with proper experience and Connections especially on the international stage, But her politics is as shit AS the rest. One of the reasons why right wing parties are on the up. Think of her as the equivalent to biden. The only thing she has going is that one can assume with certainty she is not gonna fuck shit up so hard, but there are certainly better ways. Fun fact: merkel actually announced she would not be up for re-election in 2021.
