The same thing happened to my Mom's Facebook account.

She's a realtor that used Facebook extensively to stay in contact with her clients, as well as advertise for new business.

One day, the account disappeared for malicious activity.

Lots of Big Tech is in that general range. I actually don't know of any top companies where the offer rate is ~30%.

The people on HN, especially those who use Facebook regularly, are worth on average _significanty_ more than $17 to the company per year.

It’s hard to remember, the average person makes $X,000 globally and Facebook has a huge % of the planet on their platform.

HN users make in the upper echelon of wages, and are comfortable with their computers and online shopping.

I think this is a good idea. Developers should not be able to store something on my computer indefinitely without my consent. This doesn't apply to applications users add to their home screen.

This doesn't "destroy" the PWA ecosystem. Just makes a user's intention explicit when they save a PWA to their home screen, rather than continuing to use it within the browser.

Honestly, I never viewed Slack as synchronous. I kept all notifications off, and checked it whenever I had a few minute break or wanted to catch up on our office's conversation.

Slack allowed anyone to contact me by tagging me or @here, so it was obvious when someone wanted it to be synchronous (therefore breaking my communication), but the grand majority of communication was asynchronous unlike email - which does a poor job of differentiating between messages that should (and shouldn't) break attention.
